    Five numbers to consider on this Memorial Day weekend: 1943 21 -30 594 1659 1943: When my dad; Hal K Potters went to serve in the CBI (China/Burma/India) theatre as a Flying Tiger in the B25 bombers in WWII 21: The average age of the Americans that were crew in the Army Air Corp ( the precursor to the Air Force) -30 degrees: The average temperature in the planes that flew over the Himalayas ( in unheated planes) 594: The number of planes that crashed into the Himilayas in the CBI theatre during WWII ( over 50% of the planes ) creating “The Aluminum Trail” of crashed planes that still remain there. 1659: The number of crew that lost their lives in those crashes But still they kept climbing back into those aluminum death tubes. My dad was one of the ones who was blessed enough to survive!( Though he did receive a Purple Heart for schrapnel received when being shot at by fighter planes That’s why your stuck with me and why there is a Glenmont Group. In the first pic my dad is the 2nd from the end (yep he was a bit on the short side 5’5”) The 2nd pic is his Flying Tiger jacket that flew over The Hump The flag patch was known as a “blood chit” that held maps, documents , chocolates ( for the kids) and Suicide pills if captured. If you want to know the DNA of the Glenmont Group .. this is where it started. Love you dad and every veteran who has served ( I’m pretty certain there are a number of other companies that share our DNA).
