About us
Mission Girl Talk empowers girls to become their best selves by reducing the likelihood of teen pregnancy and helping them to advance educationally. Vision Girl Talk will be a mutually beneficial community where women and girls come together in safe environments to share hope, grace, support, love, and experiences. As a result of being involved in Girl Talk, young women will connect to their purpose for a fulfilling life in whatever field they choose. Teen pregnancy rates will drop in our community as we prepare girls to make healthy choices. Girl Talk will increase the likelihood of educational advancement to prepare girls for their future. Participants will be strong, confident, educated women ready to change the world. Core Beliefs: • We believe that in our society, girls often feel alone, unworthy, and disadvantaged; but we believe their future can be good. • We believe that a young woman’s worth should not be defined by her circumstances but by her identity in Jesus Christ. • We believe that girls have the potential to make a difference when their God-given purpose is developed. • We believe that teenage pregnancy can create challenges in reaching her full potential. • We believe that Girl Talk has the responsibility to equip girls with the tools they need to live their best life possible.

We're raising programming funds during National Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month to help us in our mission to reduce the likelihood of teen pregnancy in Knoxville! Girl Talk, Inc. is a local non-profit that empowers girls to become their best selves by reducing the likelihood of teen pregnancy and helping them to advance educationally. Girl Talk, Inc. has been meeting the needs of girls in the Knoxville area since 2006 and is now serving over 400 girls with tailored programming. The Girl Talk programming reaches 3rd-5th grade girls through operating 17 school and site-based locations and middle and high school girls through our 1:1 Mentoring Program and our Life Prep Academy. Each year Girl Talk asks its staff and board to participate in a fundraising campaign during May for National Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month. Girl Talk has set a goal for staff and board volunteers to raise $500 each by asking 25 friends to give $20 toward the campaign. With a generous matching donor, Girl Talk has the potential to raise $20,000 which will support programming efforts in the Knoxville community. https://lnkd.in/emVYsx-D

“A mentor is someone who allows you to see the hope inside yourself.” — Oprah Winfrey Maleeyah and Ari's mentorship relationship has blossomed into something truly special over the past year. Ari sees Maleeyah not just as a mentee, but as a little sister. They recently had a blast going prom dress shopping together, and during their next hangout they plan to discuss Maleeyah's college applications. Witnessing their bond grow has been heartwarming, and it's a reminder of the lasting impact authentic connections can have, not only on the girls in our 1:1 Mentorship Program but also on our mentors. We love it when our mentors share their experiences with their girls! Check out what Carly had to say about her mentoring relationship with Kyla. Carly and Kyla have been paired since May of 2021. Carly has walked alongside Kyla through many different ups and downs in their 3 years of mentorship. Carly recently shared with us how much she loves mentoring Kyla. "Kyla has made me value mentorship in a deeper, more meaningful way. I have seen her grow and evolve. She is truly able to find gratitude in life even when it is extremely hard. We have reached that comfortable spot that you rest in knowing that there isn't anything I wouldn't do to show up for her. I believe that she knows that." #DesireToInspire #GirlTalkInc #MentorshipMatters
