Not all roads lead to Ford Foundation, but there is certainly more than one path to success here. Many applicants have the impression that they must have worked in philanthropy in the past to qualify for certain roles, but program officers, for example, don't need grantmaking experience to do well here. Prior experience working with an equity lens within government, the private sector and even academia have given us rich insights into new ways to approach our operations and grantmaking.
