I get to do this! I encourage anyone in cannabis who is earning a living to remember this. We get to do this. Every day waking up and earning a living as part of this industry is a gift. Cannabis the career is no picnic. There are ups and downs and challenges to execution and follow through at every corner. Working with and collaborating with other companies in the industry is not straightforward as an operator or a service provider. Even if intentions are 100%, the challenge for execution for the partners can make follow through and delivery exhausting. You are going to end up wasting precious time because the situation on the ground fundamentally changes and there is nothing you can do about it. But to those cannabis professionals, we get to be part of an industry that has created half a million jobs in the last 6 years. We get to do something that has never been done before. 😀

We’re all drawn to the cannabis industry for different reasons. But it’s our ‘why’ that keeps us persevering. For Victoria Susnowitz, a marketing manager from Maryland, it's about the power of the plant and educating others on its medicinal benefits. WHAT’S YOUR PERSONAL “WHY” (YOUR PASSION) FOR WORKING IN CANNABIS? As a kid, my mom suffered from a chronic illness. Instead of the focus being on natural wellness, big pharma was pushed on her, and this led to years of emotional struggle and addiction. I found my way into natural medicine and learned that there was a product that helped people with their pain and allowed them to customize their relief based on the strains and terpenes. My mom was supposed to be using a wheelchair by the age of 45, and she's now a yoga instructor who only uses cannabis to medicate. I've fallen in love with cannabis education ever since and try to talk to every patient how I hoped my mom was talked to. WHAT ARE THE BIGGEST SURPRISE(S) ABOUT WORKING IN THE INDUSTRY? How much more there is to learn! It never ever stops! HOW HAS WORKING IN THE INDUSTRY IMPACTED YOUR CANNABIS USE? YOUR PERCEPTION OF THE PLANT? I knew nothing when I arrived in this industry. I was a budtender for a year. The folks at CULTA [dispensary] in Baltimore taught me, gave me the ability to go on facility tours, and answered my endless questions. HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR CANNABIS WORK COMMUNITY? HOW IS IT DIFFERENT FROM OTHER WORK ENVIRONMENTS YOU’VE KNOWN? We are one giant family! As someone who suffers from anxiety and can be a little socially awkward, every time you walk into a dispensary, we all have one thing in common right off the bat. HOW DO YOU SEE CANNABIS IMPACTING YOUR COMMUNITY? As one of the leading cities in drug distribution, addiction, and overdose, I hope cannabis shows people in my area how to get relief and not be in pain with natural substances. #thatsmywhy

If you live or know folks in these states, it's time to take action.   📍 South Dakota 🗳 General election South Dakota has two new proposals for the general election of 2024. These measures aim to legalize the possession, use, and distribution of cannabis for adults, and establish a regulatory framework for the legal market. The state's history of back-and-forth on cannabis legalization makes this an especially closely watched development.   Support and follow South Dakotans for Better Marijuana Laws for more on cannabis initiatives in South Dakota ---> https://lnkd.in/eWPx2K-H   📍 Florida 🗳 General election While primary elections are on August 10, the cannabis measures will be seen in the November general election. Government agencies are listening. (In a good way 😉) The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Health and Human Services (HHS), and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are reviewing feedback from citizens in a once-in-a-lifetime review to consider regrouping cannabis with other drugs that have medical benefits, and no longer with the most addictive and dangerous drugs. Few people have better insights to share about rescheduling than the people of the cannabis industry. Let YOUR voice be heard and submit your commentary by July 22! We’re all drawn to the cannabis industry for different reasons. But it’s our ‘why’ that keeps us persevering. For Marc Whitehair, Account Manager with Wana Brands in Colorado, it’s all about the community. WHAT’S YOUR PERSONAL “WHY” (YOUR PASSION) FOR WORKING IN CANNABIS? To help push the community forward, to meet some of the most amazing people, and to feel like I found a home that doesn’t view me as a criminal. WORKING IN THE INDUSTRY, WHAT PERKS AND/OR RISKS DO YOU SEE?  A perk is to feel free to express the love and care for our plants, patients, partners, and customers. CANNABIS HELPS ME ______ Feel free to be myself. HOW HAS WORKING IN THE INDUSTRY IMPACTED YOUR CANNABIS USE? YOUR PERCEPTION OF THE PLANT? I actually take more tolerance breaks and treat my consumption/stash drawer with more respect. HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR CANNABIS WORK COMMUNITY? HOW IS IT DIFFERENT FROM OTHER WORK ENVIRONMENTS YOU’VE KNOWN? It’s got the good and bad. Find the helpers and be a helper. #thatsmywhy #cannabiscommunity

No SAFE Banking, no problem. The Delaware senate has passed a bill that would enact state-level protections for banks, credit unions, armored car services and accounting services providers that provide services to licensed cannabis businesses. “By providing dispensaries with a secure avenue to banking and compliance services, we empower them to contribute positively to our economy, keep costs down for the industry and customers, employ local talent, and fulfill their tax obligations.” – Rep. Ed Osienski (D) The bill is now in the hands of Delaware Governor John Carney, who is expected to approve it.
