These measures aim to legalize the possession, use, and distribution of cannabis for adults, and establish a regulatory framework for the legal market. The initiative will allow voters to decide on the legalization of adult-use cannabis for adults 21 years old and older and allow individuals to possess up to three ounces of marijuana.   Smart & Safe Florida is the political committee backing the constitutional amendment to legalize adult-use cannabis. The report highlights the undervaluation of cannabis companies based on their EV/Sales ratios, with Canadian Licensed Producers and U.S. Operators showing significantly higher growth potential through 2025, with compound annual growth rates of 65% and 42% respectively. The Delaware senate has passed a bill that would enact state-level protections for banks, credit unions, armored car services and accounting services providers that provide services to licensed cannabis businesses. “By providing dispensaries with a secure avenue to banking and compliance services, we empower them to contribute positively to our economy, keep costs down for the industry and customers, employ local talent, and fulfill their tax obligations.” – Rep. Ed Osienski (D) The bill is now in the hands of Delaware Governor John Carney, who is expected to approve it. Last summer, a friend invited me to Chicago’s LGBTQ+ Pride street fair. And there, among the local business booths (breweries, food treats, community business and social services organizations), were cannabis businesses, selling their goods —like everyone else. I was decked by the level of normalization I’ve only dreamt of. YOUR WHY FOR WORKING IN CANNABIS? I believe in the plant. It continues to show great power in educating the public in numerous ways: plant-based medicine efficacy, social justice awareness, and the power of respectful, persuasive civic engagement. BIGGEST SURPRISE SINCE WORKING IN CANNABIS? The ongoing amount of effort needed to educate the public (as well as those of us in the industry). SOMETHING CANNABIS JOB SEEKERS SHOULD KNOW: For me, one of the most exciting aspects about working in cannabis is that in this new industry, people are migrating and transferring into the industry from every imaginable business, cultural, and social background. FUN FACT ABOUT ME: I once lead a team to victory at a hackathon at the Stanford Design School… and among all the brilliant tech innovators, my team’s winning entry was deployed in PowerPoint! WHAT ARE THE BIGGEST SURPRISE(S) ABOUT WORKING IN THE INDUSTRY?  The many roadblocks, lack of cannabis/hemp educational resources here in Louisiana. It’s a “choose your own adventure” industry, and I’d fully encourage everyone to explore all options to find their niches. WORKING IN THE INDUSTRY, WHAT PERKS AND/OR RISKS DO YOU SEE?  Perks: combating the opioid crisis, providing safer options to pharmaceuticals, raising social justice awareness, and improving the quality of lives of many of humans.   Risks: the fact that it’s not federally legal and risky to partake in the industry, especially in states like Louisiana where it’s not legal for adult use CANNABIS HELPS ME:  Relax, slow down, and appreciate life in a world that is constantly moving! #thatsmywhy #cannabisjobs
