This past week, I had the incredible opportunity to travel to Waterford, Michigan, along with two outstanding seniors from our Innovation Center StVrain UAS Operations team. Our destination? The headquarters of Firefly Drone Shows, where we spent an intensive 3 days training on the mechanics and art of drone show production. Together, we mastered the Firefly Drone System, learning how to successfully coordinate drone shows that involve up to 300 drones! This experience was not just about technical learning; it was a leap into managing large-scale, intricate performances that combine technology, creativity, and teamwork. We are thrilled to bring this knowledge back to the City of Longmont, Colorado, where we will train a new generation of students at St. Vrain Valley Schools. Our curriculum will integrate Design Thinking principles, allowing students to engage directly with clients to understand their vision, create compelling storyboards, and execute breathtaking drone shows for our school district, the local community, and beyond. Thanks to the unwavering support from the St. Vrain Valley School Board of Education along with our Superintendent Dr. Don Haddad, we are continuously pushing the boundaries of what our students can achieve. This initiative is another step towards preparing our students for an ever-evolving workforce, setting them apart with skills in emerging technologies.
