I have never seen an emotional reaction like this to a Super Bowl ad before... Budweiser's 2024 Super Bowl ad by FCB New York brings together three things Americans love: beer, puppies and Clydesdale horses. It also does three things very effective marketers should love... 1. Fluent Device. Sure, you can hire a celebrity. Or you could spend decades creating your own. That's what AB InBev have done with the Budweiser puppy and Clydesdale horses. They have created their own celebrity. 2. Story telling. Look at that swell of sadness, which is corrected with a "peak ending". That leaves consumers feeling great about your brand. Increasing the chances that they will choose it for years to come. 3. They held the wheel. Clear positioning held over time. Not being tempted to comment on larger political issues or jump on a TikTok trend or new celeb. It's lasting brand building built over years.
