Essentia Health was pleased to host leaders from the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT) District 82, and the Duluth Building Trades at St. Mary’s Medical Center, our new flagship hospital that was completed last year after almost 3 million union labor hours. The group had productive discussions on how the trades and health care providers can partner to actively support shared priorities and make a healthy difference in the lives in of workers, patients, and the communities we serve. Essentia Health is honored to have recently had the privilege to learn more about the 148th Fighter Wing's mission, and how Essentia colleagues make a healthy difference in people's lives as 148th members of the Minnesota National Guard. Earlier this month, the 148th Fighter Wing and Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) collaborated to conduct a boss-lift on a KC-135 Stratotanker assigned to the 128th Air Refueling Wing. Essentia CEO David C. Herman, MD, witnessed an F-16 and F-35 being refueled in the air while on the KC-135. Dr. Herman was thrilled to join other community employers and educators during this valuable learning opportunity — thank you!

Kudos to our colleagues helping make a healthy difference in the lives of Northland students! Essentia Health is honored to partner with Safe Kids NE Minnesota coalition members to bring lessons about safe biking and proper helmet use to 4th grade classrooms. The program was also implemented by trained school staff at additional schools in the greater Duluth, Minnesota, area. In all, this spring’s program reached 681 4th graders across southeast St. Louis County and northeast Carlton County, which is 53% of all 4th graders in the area. #TogetherWeThrive Community Engagement: https://ow.ly/rYjz50ShMU6
