Michigan lawmakers are considering a #communitysolar initiative to expand access to solar power and reduce electricity costs. ☀️ The plan would regulate community solar programs, allowing residents without their own panels to subscribe and benefit from clean energy at a reduced rate. This would potentially save households about $100 annually. With half of U.S. properties unable to host solar panels, this initiative aims to make renewable energy accessible to diverse property owners, including those in urban, suburban, and rural areas.🏠 Nick Occhipinti of the League of Conservation Voters supports the plan for its inclusivity and efficient land use. The initiative has bipartisan backing, with lawmakers like State Sen. Ed McBroom. It was discussed in a Senate committee last month and may see further deliberation later this year! ‼️Read more about it here: https://lnkd.in/egj3fAE5 #SolarEnergy #CleanEnergy #Michigan #Lawmaking #CommunitySolar

Are you ready for this? The US is taking a leading role in boosting our country's environmental sustainability. Despite delays in launching the updated SEC rules, many states are enforcing their own emissions reduction regulations. New laws and regulations at both state and federal levels are expected to create mandatory requirements for thousands of companies to provide climate-related reporting. As federal actions face challenges, individual states are stepping in to play a significant role. This article highlights the current requirements for California, Illinois, and New York but there are other states to note. For example, Washington has implemented the Clean Air Rule, which includes penalties for organizations that do not meet emissions reduction requirements. This could result in significant fines for your organization. Additionally, the proposed Federal Supplier Climate Risks and Resilience Rules would require contractor emission reporting and for larger contractors to set science-based emissions reduction targets. Even though these rules are not yet finalized, this move towards enforcing emissions reporting and reduction is expected to continue. With all that being said... How are you future-proofing your business? Have you developed a roadmap to decarbonize your portfolio? What actions are you taking to avoid violating emission regulations? 🔗 https://lnkd.in/ei6qMWpg #Sustainability #ClimateAction #EnvironmentalRegulation #EmissionsReduction #Decarbonization

Solar Grazing workshop with White Oak Pastures and the Center for Agricultural Resilience (CFAR) ♻ ☀ *watch the video* I had the great opportunity thanks to ESA to attend a 3-day workshop to learn about #solargrazing and dive deeper into #regenerativeagriculture. Learning from Will Harriss from his book, his podcasts with Joe Rogan, and now in person is truly an honor to be exposed to individuals who live true to their #values It was a profound experience to see operational large-scale utility solar (120MW + 80MW +20MW) facilities firsthand and to learn about the deep correlation between soil health and the vegetation management practices we decided to implement in our projects. There is a way to bring back organic matter into the soil, remove herbicide utilization, increase our soil's value, and add more value to the projects and the surrounding communities. #Duallanduse like sheep grazing is good for the soil and more effective in long-term vegetation management as the soil increases its ability to hold in water and sequester #carbon. Let's not forget that it is also a more humane way of raising livestock in these pastures and increasing our #USgrown meat supply. This is a scalable practice with a defined set of constraints that can be implemented in projects that meet that framework. I will continue to share my journey as I learn how Solar Generators can be good stewards of the land. Ask me anything! #SDG #ESASolar #solargrazing #agrivoltaics #landstewardship #saveoursoil #utilitysolar #communitysolar #photovoltaics #landmanagement #livestock #regenerativeagriculture cc: Justin Vandenbroeck Sabrina Diniz Emily Kobylarczyk (thanks for enabling this and being great sidekicks in this journey)

Senior Project Developer, Luis Gonzalez and Community Outreach Coordinator, Sabrina Diniz recently participated in a Solar Grazing workshop at White Oak Pastures and the Center for Agricultural Resilience (CFAR) ♻️☀️. Throughout the workshop, Sabrina and Luis engaged deeply with the concepts of #SolarGrazing and #RegenerativeAgriculture, guided by industry expert Will Harris. They had the opportunity to tour large-scale utility solar facilities (120MW + 80MW +20MW), gaining firsthand insights into the crucial relationship between soil health and vegetation management. Their discussions centered on sustainable practices, including the reintroduction of organic matter into the soil, reduction of herbicide use, and overall enhancement of soil value. These practices are aimed at not only improving project efficiency but also contributing positively to the surrounding communities. 🌻 #SolarGrazing #CommunitySolar #UtilityScaleSolar #SolarEnergy #Agrivoltaics

Sustainability isn’t just a buzz word anymore. René Demers from National Bank of Canada emphasizes the risks of non-green real estate becoming obsolete due to stricter regulations and higher demand for sustainable properties. The bank has committed to green financing, exceeding its green loan targets in 2023.🎯 It also advocates for both new constructions and retrofits of existing buildings to meet #netzero emissions goals. Despite challenges in retrofitting, the bank sees significant opportunities for #energyefficiency improvements. The shift toward green building is driven by both regulatory pressures and the financial benefits of lower energy costs and higher rental premiums. National Bank supports this shift through financing incentives and aims to lead in the transition to a low-carbon economy. ‼️Read more about it here: https://lnkd.in/gan3DscE

The University at Buffalo (UB) aims for climate neutrality by 2030, installing multiple solar arrays on campus.☀ These projects are publicly accessible, promoting the integration of solar energy into everyday life. Chief Sustainability Officer, Ryan A. McPherson, credits the non-profit Second Nature for their support, especially in utilizing power purchase agreements (PPAs) to finance these initiatives. UB collaborates with local institutions to advance regional solar efforts and plans to mandate new solar-ready constructions and explore solar canopies for parking lots. Vice President, Kamala Harris, praised UB’s sustainability initiatives as a national model, emphasizing the university's institutional responsibility. #ClimateNeutrality #PPAs #ClimateAction #SustainableFuture #CampusSustainability ❗ Read more about it here: https://lnkd.in/eGYeh9Mr

We recently participated in a day of professional development, featuring a keynote by Todd Caponi on "Turning Transparency into Your Superpower." The event included a culture and HR update by Ebony Sain and Micah Chabot, providing insights on our culture and benefits from the People Operations and Human Resources team. We also engaged in breakout sessions for assigned workshops: Develop, Build, and Operate. 🔵 In the Develop Workshop, we focused on applying transparency to ESA’s messaging, positioning, and the buying journey. We explored questions like our core brand promise, the circumstances under which we are a great choice, and the reasons potential clients might say “no.” 🔵 The Build Workshop, titled "Solar 101: Learn the fundamentals of solar construction," offered hands-on experience with solar array installation under the guidance of our construction team. 🔵 The Operate Workshop featured a panel discussion on the long-term thinking for solar assets, covering project finance, asset management, and technical maintenance. The day concluded with a Founders Fireside Chat and Ask Me Anything session, where our founding partners reflected on ESA’s journey and answered questions about the company's past, present, and future.☀️ #ProfessionalDevelopment #Transparency #SolarEnergy #CompanyCulture #SustainableFuture #Leadership #CareerGrowth
