To improve safety for pedestrians and motorists within the heart of Buzzards Bay, EP assisted the Town of Bourne, MA in securing construction funding through the Shared Streets & Spaces Grant Program to construct widened, ADA-accessible sidewalks and other safety improvements at the Main Street and Academy Drive intersection. The project addresses safety deficiencies for pedestrians and motorists on Main Street by reducing the speed of traffic entering the downtown from the Buzzards Bay Rotary and improving pedestrian accommodations by consolidating crosswalk locations, reducing crosswalk lengths, and expanding sidewalk space. This project will also facilitate outdoor activities through the expanded sidewalk space along the northern side of the Main Street/Academy Drive intersection, where several storefronts are located. EP assisted the Town with the design and bidding of these improvements, with the contract awarded to the Walsh Construction Company in Spring 2024. Construction is currently underway and anticipated to be completed in August. #funding #sharedstreets #ada #safety

Apex conducted comprehensive natural resource inventories for several military sites. These inventories included detailed assessments of various ecological and environmental factors critical to maintaining the sustainability of these areas. Here, Dr. Amy Smith is completing a macroinvertebrate study to assess water quality. This method of sampling macroinvertebrates gives a long-term perspective of stream health, unlike traditional water sampling, which only offers a short-term snapshot of water quality attained in water samples. #ApexCompanies #WaterQuality #NaturalResources Amy D. EP is excited to have partnered with the City of Attleboro on our first project together! The Lindsey Street Water Main Replacement project replaces 10,400 linear feet of antiquated and unreliable cast iron water main with new ductile iron water main. The existing cast iron water main has reached the end of its useful life, and has been subject to many leaks and breaks over the years. The new ductile iron water main will significantly increase the resiliency and reliability of the water distribution system in this area of the City. With EP's design completed in late 2023, the project has now entered construction. Pictured is the Contractor installing a temporary bypass system to reliably supply residents with water during water main installation.

EP supports several Massachusetts communities with their Good Housekeeping and Pollution Prevention (MCM-6) tasks of the MS4 Stormwater Permit. These include annual inspections of all municipally-owned and maintained constructed Stormwater Control Measures (SCMs). Over this fiscal year alone, EP has visited over 500 systems to conduct condition assessments and to provide operation and maintenance recommendations. Recommendations for improvements, possible retrofits, and any future design considerations are provided by EP based off site conditions found at each system. In addition, special attention is made regarding any nutrient (nitrogen/phosphorus) reduction requirements the specific municipality may need to address.

Construction is ongoing at the Town of Eastham’s second and final water storage tank of their new Municipal Water System! The District H tank will serve Eastham’s Water System by increasing water storage capacity for the growing number of service connections, creating redundancy and resiliency to enable shutdown of the existing tank for repairs and maintenance, and providing more reserve for emergencies. The composite-style, elevated tank will stand at 135 feet tall and hold 750,000-gallons of potable water. Pouring of the concrete shaft is complete, and welding of the steel bowl is underway. The bowl will then be painted on the ground and hoisted to grade. The tank is scheduled to be operational in December 2024. EP has partnered with Eastham since 2005 on the planning, design, permitting, and construction of their award-winning, Town-wide Water System. Construction of the system began in July 2015 and first provided water to residents in Fall 2016. The Town has since been building out the rest of the system, and one of the final components is the District H water storage tank.
