About us
The Engineers' Society of Western Pennsylvania has provided a forum for the professional development and the facilities for the social interaction of its members for more than a century. The ESWP is chartered to advance the professions of engineering, architecture, and applied sciences through technical activities, public service participation and social organizations. It also supports the needs of industries, communities, and government in Western Pennsylvania. Since its founding in 1880 ESWP has continually served as a focal point for the area's engineering and technical community. At its inception, ESWP was created by a group of Pittsburgh's entrepreneurs and businessmen to promote social, technical, and business interaction in Western Pennsylvania. This vision has continued through the years as ESWP has grown and adapted to the changing technical needs of the community. The ESWP serves primarily as a catalyst to promote interaction throughout the technical community in Western Pennsylvania. Its more than 1000 members and 50 associated technical societies reflect the richness of the full spectrum of engineering and applied science disciplines.

Taking time to invest in yourself - personal, career and professional development - I've found is a key to balance. Twice a year a combination of Pittsburgh professional organizations I'm a part of hold a women's forum and I'm honored to be part of the committee that brainstorms and assembles the events. Panel discussions range from a variety of topics but at its foundation: encourage and empower women in an improving, but still male dominant architecture/engineering/construction industry. From muddy-boots field professionals to suits, nearly 80 women packed the Engineers' Society of Western PA downtown. This event also allows for post-panel networking and I always enjoy catching up with colleagues and meeting new folks! Cheryl Moon did a fantastic job moderating, and a big thanks to each of the panelists for sharing their stories and insights: Rachel Duda, Burcu Akinci, and Noreen Karolski. Another great event! Thank you to the participating Pittsburgh chapters supporting women in AEC! WTS Pittsburgh Chapter, American Council of Engineering Companies of Pennsylvania (ACEC/PA), #ASHEPittsburgh

We salute all engineers who are making a meaningful contribution to our environment, and improving the lives of those in their communities through environmentally practical designs and systems. From optimizing water systems, and protecting waterways with low impact designs to pursuing energy-efficient initiatives, all engineering disciplines play a critical role in safeguarding our environment.
