During his stay at Encompass Health recovering from a stroke, Chris was motivated to reclaim his independence. When asked about his experience, he shared, "You can't keep a good man down. I might have had a stroke and had to relearn everything again, but it is like riding a bicycle. You never forget, but my therapists were always there to help me remember just in case." Since Chris missed his annual fishing trip on his late father's birthday, our staff put together a fishing activity to help his functional mobility and lift his spirits. We're proud to share that Chris was discharged able to walk and climb stairs! Abigail Young is an eight-year-old girl who underwent an amputation after a lawn mower accident. After receiving her new prosthesis, she was admitted to Encompass Health for rehabilitation. Her main goals are to do a cartwheel, handstand, back bend, walk and ride a bike. She has started the process to achieving her goals and enjoying her life as an eight-year-old!
