The Effective Institutions Project is thrilled to launch The Observatory! At least quarterly, we’ll be sharing a broad round-up of recent developments at important institutions around the world, along with our take on what they mean for people’s lives. We’ll also publish occasional bulletins covering our views and insights on specific issues that may be in the news or timely for some other reason. This inaugural edition is a primer on AI governance, a focus area of our work since EIPs inception. It covers why we think this is an especially important issue right now, the most important institutions working in the area, what developments to watch over the next 6-12 months, and how you can help. If you liked what you read, please feel free to repost or tell a friend, and we’re always eager to hear your feedback and reflections! https://lnkd.in/eih6azKZ

We are very happy to welcome two new members to the EIP team! James Scoggins joins us as Managing Director, and Ella McIntosh joins us as Chief of Staff. James brings 17+ years in operational leadership roles across multiple industries. Most recently, James worked at Amazon Web Services (AWS), leading a Supply Chain team focused on Global Data Center Planning. Ella is stepping into a new role at EIP, having been involved for just over a year, initially as a fellow and subsequently as a volunteer while she completed her Master's degree in Social and Public Policy. We’re excited for this next phase in EIP's journey!
