Radar Reinvented
About us
Echodyne designs and builds advanced radar solutions that unlock new capabilities for intelligent systems and autonomous machines and shatter price-performance barriers for sensor arrays. Our combination of patented metamaterials electronically scanned array (MESA®) technology with powerful software ultimately means significantly greater situational awareness that increases safety and saves lives. Our first radar is the size of a paperback book, weighs less than bowling pin, draws less power than a light bulb, yet outperforms every comparable radar on the market. We are just getting started. Echodyne delivers commercial radar solutions for end users and integrators in Government and Defense, Critical Infrastructure Protection, Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS), and Autonomous Vehicle markets globally. The company is based in Kirkland, Washington and backed by Bill Gates, NEA, Madrona Venture Group, Baillie Gifford, Vulcan Capital, Vanedge Capital, and Irongrey among others. Last week, our partner SPX Technologies, and subsidiaries TCI International, Inc. and Enterprise Control Systems Ltd, launched the BLACKTALON Ecosystem. The achievement exemplifies decades of expertise in the space and a commitment to a vendor-agnostic framework. David Montague, Director EMEAI at Echodyne, said: “Systems are evolving rapidly to address the counter-UAS threat, with accuracy, flexibility, and ease of integration being key evaluation criteria. We are pleased to be included in BLACKTALON Ecosystem, which provides rich optionality for customers to easily tailor system design and performance to mission and location requirements.” To learn more about the BLACKTALON Ecosystem, visit the link here: https://lnkd.in/grzg9Ggi Read the full press release here >>> SPX Communication Technologies introduces a fully customizable C-UAS capability - SPX Communication Technologies (tcibr.com)

Due to the nature of defense, we can’t always share where our radar is used and who is using it. Today, we are excited to be able to shout about a project Echodyne has been tapped to support with NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCI Agency) to help with NATO’s testing of its first-ever counter-drone doctrine. In the recent Ramstein Legacy drill exercise, participating units were able to get familiar with technology spanning electronic warfare equipment, radars, and command-and-control systems through practical exercises and hands-on training. “The focus of the Ramstein Legacy drill, held June 3-14, was on developing the alliance’s integrated air and missile defense with an additional eye on combating Class 1 unmanned aerial system threats — a reference to small, mini and micro drones.” Read all about the drill and its participants in a piece by Elisabeth Gosselin-Malo of Defense News here >>> https://lnkd.in/gJhMr6Jj #drones #dronedetection #cuas #radar #defencetechnology #airdefence

We are proud to share that our radar was a key component in protecting the skies above the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Austrian Grand Prix 2024, integrated into Aaronia AG's AARTOS drone detection system. This high-speed c-UAS system ensured the safety of the event by providing the real-time positioning of unauthorized drones and their operators. With drones continuously proving to be a threat at large-scale events, it’s imperative that event security professionals take the necessary precautions to protect the airspace and Echodyne radar is purpose-built to protect critical environments from drones. “In addition to numerous drone sightings on the outskirts of the designated no-fly zones, we unfortunately had to intervene several times,” explains Stephan Kraschansky, CEO of Aaronia Austria. “In most cases, it was enough to warn the pilots about their misconduct. In a few cases, however, we had to take control of the drones and land them safely to avoid any risk. At the same time, the security officials took care of the drone pilots.” Read the full article from Unmanned Airspace >>> https://lnkd.in/gZSHUJfS #cuas #dronedetection #radar #eventsecurity #criticalinfrastructure #criticalinfrastructureprotection

A wise man once said, “When you’ve seen one airport, you’ve seen one airport.” Airport safety operators know that airports are uniquely complex, noisy, and sensitive signal environments, requiring a multifaceted approach to ensure safe and efficient operations. In a piece for Airport World, the official magazine of ACI Airport Council International, John Kasuda, Head of Airports and Vertiports Smart Infrastructure North America at Siemens, and Briana Clark, Regional Sales Manager for Critical Infrastructure, North America, at Echodyne, teamed up to tackle the emerging drone problem at airports and offer airport security operators actionable insights to secure the airport perimeter. The two cover everything from the critical components of every airport command and control platform in detecting security threats to the emergence of dark drones that skirt traditional RF sensors to the immense benefits radar provides in detecting both air and ground-based intruders. Drones are an important emerging technology that can help law enforcement agencies fight crime and emergency first responders act faster. Earlier this week, Kurt Knutsson recently penned a piece for his publication CyberGuy about drone manufacturer BRINC on creating the Responder, a “quadcopter, crime-fighting drone that beats cops to the scene and is equipped with an array of cutting-edge features designed to save lives and enhance public safety.” We’re proud that Echodyne’s radar is serving such great projects in the drone as first responder, DFR, industry and are excited to see what new use cases emerge as we continue to explore how drone technology can support public safety efforts. >>> Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gXfKCJ_a #PublicSafety #LawEnforcement #RapidResponse #DFR #Drones #DroneTech #DronesForGood #Radar

Echodyne is pleased to be a part of the ecosystem of vendors contributing to the new counter-unmanned aerial system, #CUAS, capability based on the operationally proven BLACKTALON solution - this week launched by SPX Technologies, and subsidiaries TCI International, Inc. and Enterprise Control Systems Ltd. Echodyne's cutting-edge #MESA radar delivers the accuracy and reliability required for actionable cUAS activity. “The complexity and speed that modern conflict develops means it's impossible for a single counter-UAS provider to own all the necessary technologies to provide a best-in-class solution suitable for all forms of threats today and in the future. As a trusted partner for global defence and security teams, our BLACKTALON Ecosystem helps break down barriers to threat response," says Graeme Forsyth, Counter-UAS Product Manager at SPX Technologies.
