🇨🇱 Summer Internship Program (SIP) students in Chile had the wonderful opportunity to spend a day at Centro Ceremonial Mapuche de La Pintana. Guided by José Painaqueo, they learned about the winter solstice celebrations of the Mapuche and other indigenous communities of Chile and Latin America, which symbolize nature's rebirth. During 'We Tripantu,' Mapuche families gather to perform purificatory rites in rivers, prepare traditional food, and express their gratitude towards nature. As part of the festivities, they also play Palín, a traditional game that is a predecessor of modern hockey. Enjoying the sunny day, SIP students even got a chance to join in and play! They had an amazing time! In addition to these cultural experiences, SIP students are gaining valuable hands-on experience through their internships with leading organizations in Chile.
