Regional leaders from the agtech and geospatial sectors in St. Louis traveled to São Paulo, Brazil under the banner "The Future of Agri-Food Tech is STLMADE" to participate in the annual World Agri-Tech South America Summit and visit PIT – Parque de Inovação Tecnológica São José dos Campos burgeoning geospatial ecosystem to build relationships and gain critical intelligence on the future of innovation in agriculture. Representatives from the Danforth Center, Taylor Geospatial Institute, BioSTL, The World Trade Center St. Louis, T-REX, and HabiTerre were able to deepen connections with Latin American innovators, investors, and players in the space. It was an excellent opportunity to build on the momentum of Cultivar STL, an initiative designed to foster collaboration and boost the economic success of startups, investors, corporations, and ecosystems in St. Louis and Latin America. Recently, our #agtech #innovation community manager Isabel Acevedo (She/Ella) attended the Global Entrepreneurship Network event titled “Vision 2035: An Entrepreneurial Future for Latin America and the Caribbean.” She joined founders, investors, ecosystem builders, policymakers, and researchers from around the world for the event aimed to explore a roadmap for a more vibrant and thriving economy in LATAM and the Caribbean. Here are a few highlights: 💪 Listening to Isabella Casillas G., administrator of the Small Business Administration in the Biden administration and the fifth Latina woman ever to serve in the Cabinet of the United States. 🌱 Becoming an “ecosystem builder” by chance by engaging with other economic developers to examine best practices through an academic lens and learned about economic gardening. 🌎 Reconnecting with Bruno Rondani and meeting other members of Grupo de Ecosistemas Inteligentes de América Latina (GEIAL) with incredible potential to collaborate with this organization as we enter the second year of Cultivar! 💡Getting introduced to Strategic Doing – a discipline for guiding complex collaborations – and brainstorming with partners from Puerto Rico and Ecuador on how we can achieve a sustainable and self-sufficient future for LATAM and the Caribbean by fostering agri-food tech innovation. "Vision 2035: Roadmap for Entrepreneurial Success in Latin America and the Caribbean," released at GEC+Puerto Rico, identifies agritech as one of four key sectors to foster entrepreneurship. The Latin American agrifoodtech sector has seen substantial investment growth in the sector, which is expected to grow.bThe report also highlighted the importance of fostering collaboration between ecosystem stakeholders and supporting internationalization efforts to accelerate innovation. All of which validates our commitment to the region through the CultivarSTL initiative. #GECplusPR #DanforthCenter
