Since 1980, DAWN supports, empowers, and shelter domestic violence survivors and their children.
About us
At DAWN we are rising for peace in our communities. Since our inception as Domestic Abuse Women’s Network in 1980, DAWN has helped tens of thousands of women, children and men through a holistic support system that not only protects them in immediate crises but empowers us all to prevent violence and create respectful and safe communities. We are the only nonprofit organization in South King County that focuses all its resources and expertise solely on empowering survivors to be free of domestic violence today and on preventing violence from affecting our community for generations. Every person who turns to us for help finds safety, support and empowerment for building a better life. Everyone who believes in our cause finds a trustworthy partner and leader in working to end violence in our community. No nonprofit understands the unique socioeconomic and cultural needs of victims of violence in South King County better than Dawn. We were born here, grew up here and are committed to continuing our work in this area of our county that lacks much of the resources and support afforded to Seattle and the Eastside. With the support of our donors and community, we save lives today and prevent violence from affecting countless others tomorrow.

On Friday DAWN hosted volunteers at our downtown Gowe office helping out with some very much needed TLC! Our staff and volunteers pulled weeds, laid down landscaping fabric, and new bark to bring new life into DAWN's outside area! 🌷🌱🌸🌻 In 2020, DAWN was completely remote leaving our facility lacking life! Now in 2024, we are back in office (on a hybrid schedule of course) and really see the need of invigorating our space! With the help of Kent Downtown Partnership and their microgrant, DAWN has prioritized making external improvements to increase not only our curb appeal, but to make our facility one that makes our clients feel safe and at peace. We're excited to see the fruits of our labor and want to invite our community members to come see the results with their own eyes! Be sure to join us on Tuesday, August 27 for our Open House and get an exclusive look at a new DAWN! Our Open House will run from 3 - 5 pm. We hope to see you there! 🤩 RSVP by emailing development@dawnrising.org! 📧 #domesticviolenceawareness #risingfordomesticpeace #volunteers #volunteersmakeadifference #openhouse #event #communitysupport

Our survivors need your help❗️ When fleeing, survivors are the most vulnerable. Leaving behind their abuser can mean leaving behind all of their personal items. When they arrive at DAWN's emergency shelter, they often arrive with nothing - no bag, no hygiene products, and no clothing other than what they are wearing upon their arrival. You can help support survivors by donating new leggings, t-shirts, socks, underwear, and pajamas of all sizes. This will provide survivors with the support they need to begin their journey forward to rebuilding their lives free from abuse. You can donate directly to DAWN survivors through our Amazon Wishlist at: https://amzn.to/3U00mck If you know someone who is experiencing domestic violence and needs help, please call our advocacy and support line. You are not alone. 425-656-7867 or visit our website at www.dawnrising.org. #donations #inkinddonations #domesticviolenceawareness #dvawareness #dvadvocacy #findhelp #kent #kingcounty #nonprofit #notinvisible #dvprevention #risingfordomesticpeace #supportsurvivors #thankyou #traumainformed #traumainformedcare #wesupportyou #donation #amazonwishlist
