The flagship program of The Dollywood Foundation has gifted over 200 million free books in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and Republic of Ireland. The Imagination Library mails more than 2 million free, high-quality, age-appropriate books each month to registered children from birth to age five. Dolly envisioned creating a lifelong love of reading and inspiring them to dream. The impact of the program has been widely researched and results suggest positive increases in key early childhood literacy metric. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Onondaga County, NY, joyously marked the gifting of its 1.5 millionth book with a vibrant celebration at Northern Onondaga Public Library (NOPL) North Syracuse! County Executive Ryan McMahon presented the milestone book to Rocco Cestaro of Clay, NY, surrounded by 14 excited pre-school classmates. Rocco was recently among seven individuals globally to receive a prestigious golden Dolly Parton bookmark, commemorating the Imagination Library's achievement of gifting over 200 million books worldwide. This special bookmark gave him the privilege of a video chat with Dolly and complimentary tickets to the Dollywood Theme Park. In an extra dose of magic, Southwest Airlines generously donated 5 roundtrip airline tickets for Rocco and his entire family, granting them the opportunity to embark on their summer adventure at the Dollywood Theme Park in Tennessee! As a heartfelt gesture, The Dollywood Foundation will also contribute $2,000 to the DPIL Literacy Coalition of Onondaga County on behalf of Rocco.
