What an incredible Pride Month 🌈 it’s been at Dollar Tree and Family Dollar! Our teams had so many opportunities to showcase their pride and commitment to inclusion and belonging, from our sponsorships of Pride in the ‘Peake and Hampton Roads PrideFest right outside of our corporate headquarters, to educational events and panel discussions with our field and DC associates, to marching in parades across the country and supporting organizations like The Trevor Project, GLSEN, and the Howard Brown Health Center ❤️. To close out the month, we were able to attend the Toronto Pride Parade 🇨🇦 this past weekend. We want to thank everyone who participated and helped make these events unforgettable, especially our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging team and our Pride Associate Resource Group, whose mission is to advocate for LGBTQ+ associates, allies, and communities 👏. Our Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) League Associate Resource Group (ARG) recently wrapped up a fantastic lineup of events celebrating 🎊 AAPI Heritage Month. From the insightful field kickoff event in Los Angeles with director 🎬 Frank Chi, to inspiring 🌟 discussions with AAPI leaders and executives, to cultural performances by non-profits in Hampton Roads, we heard a wide variety of valuable insights into the AAPI experience throughout the month. Together, we created unforgettable memories and reaffirmed our commitment to uplifting our communities and inspiring belonging. Last month, Dollar Tree and Family Dollar partnered with the Urban League of Hampton Roads, Inc. to award ten $1,000 scholarships to outstanding high school graduates who have completed the Project Ready Program. Project Ready is an educational program designed to prepare African Americans and other historically underserved high school youth for college and careers. Over the past 12 months, members of the Black Advocate Alliance Associate Resource Group (ARG) have worked with the students on several life skills development topics. The ceremony featured Hampton Roads Channel News 3 Reporter Leondra Head as the keynote speaker, as well as Urban League representatives, the Black Advocate Alliance ARG, and the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging team.
