We're excited to introduce New Century CSA as our first feature on our "Field to Fork" series! This series explores our partnerships with local farms and highlights how we reduce our carbon footprint while support hardworking local farmers. New Century CSA started as a grain farm two generations ago and has evolved into a thriving provider of fresh produce in central Ohio. Tim and his dedicated team deliver weekly boxes filled with everything from peas to sweet corn, staying connected with their community through their community-supported agriculture, or CSA, program. They use innovative techniques like plastic-covered crop beds and underground watering systems to ensure healthy, sustainable crops. 🌽 Discover more about their journey and passion for farming in our Field to Fork series on our website! https://lnkd.in/g4PsESqj

    President & COO, DNO Produce

This week, I had the honor of serving as the emcee for the Produce For All Leadership Summit, co-hosted by The Foundation for Fresh Produce and Partnership for a Healthier America, coinciding with the IFPA Washington Conference. The event featured an impressive lineup of speakers, including Karen Washington, USDA Administrator Cindy Long, and Erica Williams Simon, among others. The focus was on creating an action plan to double produce consumption in select U.S. cities and reduce food insecurity. At the IFPA Washington Conference, we got into policy issues impacting our industry, such as nutrition, labor, and the farm bill. We heard from USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack and other congressional representatives about the government's crucial role in ensuring food access and the vital part produce plays. We also honored Senator Debbie Stabenow for her lifelong support of specialty crops at the PAC dinner. Leaving both events, I am more convinced than ever that our collective efforts to increase produce consumption are not only right for our industry but essential for our world. Addressing diet-related diseases through increased produce consumption can significantly enhance both lifespan and healthspan while saving taxpayer money. It is frustrating to me that we must fight so hard for something so logical, but this is our calling. Together, we must continue to champion this cause for the betterment of all.
