Today we’re celebrating the European Union countries approving the #NatureRestorationLaw which requires EU member countries to restore 20% of their damaged lands and waters to environmental health by 2030. This landmark legislation gives us hope that global leaders are at last acting to restore degraded ecosystems and harness the power of nature-based solutions to climate change. #naturebasedsolutions

Tamara holds a Master of Science in Environmental Policy and Regulation, and a BA in Global Liberal Studies with a concentration in Politics, Rights, and Development. Happy World Environment Day! Led by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), this year’s World Environment Day focuses on land restoration, desertification and drought resilience, all issues intrinsically linked to Cultivo’s purpose: regenerating 1% of the world’s lands into healthy ecosystems. According to the UNEP, Land restoration projects can reverse the creeping tide of land degradation, drought and desertification. Restoration projects boost livelihoods, lower poverty and build resilience to extreme weather. It increases carbon storage and slows climate change. And restoring just 15 per cent of land and halting further conversion could avoid up to 60 per cent of expected species extinctions.
