The CREW Kansas City Q3 Luncheon was a deep dive into the future of Kansas City's iconic Country Club Plaza District—an essential gathering for anyone passionate about the city's growth. Tyler Enders of Made in KC led an insightful panel discussion with key stakeholders, including HP Village Partners' Mark O'Briant, Plaza District Council's Kate Marshall, and Block Real Estate Services' Aaron Mesmer. The conversation was a compelling mix of historical perspective and forward-looking plans, highlighting area improvements that make the Plaza District safer and more accessible. The conversations focused the restoration vision which includes plans to revitalize local interest through the infrastructure improvements, return of local owned restaurants, new luxury retailers, a small grocer, enhancements to streetscapes, and the addition of a boutique hotel—all aimed at maintaining the Plaza's historic charm. In terms of safety and security, over $100 million has been committed to boosting security measures, updating lighting, and improving street designs to ensure the area remains both vibrant and secure. The luncheon was a testament to the community's unity in shaping the Plaza's future. The thoughtful dialogue left attendees inspired and eager to see the evolution of Kansas City's crown jewel, They Country Club Plaza and surrounding Plaza District. Special thanks to Burns & McDonnell for hosting CREW Kansas City’s quarterly luncheons in their fabulous auditorium.  #crewkansascity

A mentor can be a powerful catalyst for career advancement, especially for women in commercial real estate (CRE). The CREW Kansas City Mentorship Program has been highly effective in guiding members through the intricacies of the industry and fostering strong professional relationships. Here’s what this month’s spotlighted mentor and mentee have to say about their experiences: Katharine Ross: "I love the mentorship program because it provides a space for me to learn about some of the more intangible aspects of building a career. With mentors of various backgrounds, professions, and personalities, I value the perspective the mentorship program provides. My mentors have helped ground me when these early years of my career have felt overwhelming and uncertain. They inspire me not only to keep pursuing my goals, but also to give back to the next women in line when I am able. The mentorship program is my favorite part of CREW, and I would highly recommend it!" Bev Weber: "The mentorship program keeps me young and inspired. There are amazing young professional women in this industry who are hungry to learn and to put in the hard work to make it work. I love helping my mentees solve problems, talk through strategy, introducing them to my network and also just being a good listener. It’s fun to foster these relationships into trusting friendships. I’ve loved how I learn from my mentees as much as I hope they learn from me. It also feels really good to give back and to model the mentors that helped me along the way and who, to this day, would move mountains for me. I want to be that person for the next “me”. Being a mentor is one of the best parts of being in CREW." Congratulations to Kelsey Humphrey, AIA, LEED AP on becoming an AIA Pillars Program Graduate! Kelsey says: “Pillars was an amazing opportunity to both learn alongside fellow emerging leaders within the architectural community, but also introduced me to a whole series of organizations and leaders in KC who are passionate about making our city a better place for all people. A very cool stat that we learned from KCSourceLink is that 58% of all jobs in Kansas City are the result of small businesses and Entrepreneurs. To me, this just reinforces the fact that Kansas City is a thriving, creative community. As leaders within the AEC community, we can work together to both preserve and enhance the unique sense of place here in Kansas City.” The AIA Pillars Leadership Training Program is a year-long program that prepares emerging leaders within the architectural community for their role in shaping the future of both the architectural profession and the greater Kansas City metropolitan area. The training program includes active participation in local service opportunities and exposure to community leaders and issues. Through discussions with leaders and colleagues, tours, and research, the AIA pillars group can better understand how they can make positive change within our community. #crewkansascity
