Read more from Business Insider Africa about breaking the cycle of poverty and our USDA McGovern-Dole project in Mozambique. We don't take a band-aid approach to development. Our projects incorporate comprehensive strategies that address both immediate needs and underlying issues. The Our Bright Future project integrates school meals with literacy, school infrastructure, and community engagement to address the root causes of food insecurity and education quality. The project has reached 75,000 students and served 17 million daily school meals. https://lnkd.in/eeYxmqeW Frenk Nhamuenda Casimiro Antonio Juceline Helen USDA Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) #GlobalDev #InternationalDevelopment #Mozambique #SchoolMeals #SchoolNutrition #FoodSecurity

Afghan women activists convened for the 11th Unifying Our Voices meeting at Counterpart’s DC office this week to mark the publication of Freedom Now and law firm Hogan Lovells’ report, “Now and Then: Grassroots Activism Under the Taliban.” The group discussed its findings and strategized on how to support a newly developing civil society in Afghanistan. Counterpart’s Kourtney Pompi, senior director of governance, and Manizha Wafeq, gender technical expert, welcomed the activists and their allies. Distinguished guests included Andrea J Prasow, the executive director of Freedom Now; Shamail Tawana Nasiri, founder of Farkhunda News and an activist for Women’s Movement for Justice and Freedom; Farishta Sakhi (Ph.D.), project director of Freedom House; Khalid Ramizy, chief executive officer of Afghanistan Economic & Legal Studies Organization (AELSO); Yalda Royan, Afghanistan program officer at Freedom Now; and Hannah Dingemans a trainee solicitor from Hogan Lovells US LLP. Counterpart stands in solidarity with the activists and grassroots organizations who are fighting tirelessly for the rights of Afghan women. #GlobalDev #GenderApartheid #Afghanistan #WomensRights #WomensEmpowerment #Inclusion #HumanrRghts #AfghanWomen

Counterpart’s USAID-funded Rights and Dignity project held a workshop on radio techniques and podcast production called “Local Voices.” The training provided members of local human rights organizations with tools and basic knowledge in communication, radio techniques, and podcast production to effectively express their voices in promoting the human rights of vulnerable groups. With this initiative, the project fosters networks of communicators committed to equality and justice, taking a significant step towards building an inclusive and diverse platform for the promotion of human rights. 📽 Watch the video to learn more: https://lnkd.in/eeW5Snzt Gustavo D'Angelo Maria Jose V.
