An ensemble of long-serving, global leaders in international development and humanitarian assistance

About us

Corus International is an ensemble of long-serving, global leaders in international development and humanitarian assistance committed to ending poverty and building healthy communities across Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East, and Africa. Made up of several non-profit and for-profit organizations – Lutheran World Relief, IMA World Health, CGA Technologies, Ground Up Investing, and Farmers Market Brands – the Corus family's global networks expand wide and our local partnerships run deep. Alongside communities and local partners in fragile settings, Corus' dedicated experts across the family of organizations integrate disciplines, approaches and resources to overcome global health challenges, develop productive and stable economies, improve resilience in the face of climate change, and respond to natural disasters and humanitarian crises. With the support of our family's diverse set of partners and funding – from multi- and bilateral institutions and foundations to the private sector and individuals – we invest in solutions that are innovative, scalable, holistic and move the needle towards transformational change. Our dedicated experts around the globe work together to bring life-saving aid and long-term hope to even the most fragile corners of the world and in the most challenging of circumstances. We connect disciplines, approaches and people because we know that the more collaboration we can efficiently achieve, the wider, more systemic impact we can create. It’s belief and action, in harmony.

On this International LGBTQI+ Pride Day and throughout the year, we international development practitioners are reminded of the crucial importance of amplifying the voices of the LGBTQI+ community in project design and programming. Such inclusion is essential to end discrimination, uphold human rights, and ensure sustainable development for all. Our Managing Director for Latin America, Galo Quizanga, emphasizes, "In our commitment to equity and human rights, it is crucial to acknowledge that globally, 9 out of 10 youth who identify as LGBTQI+ face discrimination or violence. LGBTQI+ rights are fundamental human rights, and we cannot allow anyone to be left behind. Now more than ever, it is imperative that we strengthen our support for this community to ensure that everyone lives in peace and dignity." We remain committed to prioritizing inclusion efforts and are encouraged to see development leaders like USAID focusing on LGBTQI+ inclusive development. https://lnkd.in/g_ajjpQ5 #Inclusion #InclusiveDevelopment #LGBTQI #Youth #Pride #HumanRights #InclusionMatters

This latest peer-reviewed article from our Technical Director for SBC Kamden Hoffmann and collaborators describes how vignettes—short stories about a fictitious South Sudanese couple across the reproductive life course—were used in USAID MOMENTUM Integrated Health Resilience as a qualitative method to explore social norms related to family planning and reproductive health (FP/RH) and decisions related to contraceptive use and gender-based violence (GBV) in 5 counties in South Sudan. Explore the article to delve into how certain social norms have limited FP/RH and perpetuated GBV, while others have promoted FP/RH and aided in mitigating GBV: https://bit.ly/4c8A5Pz #SBC #SocialNorms #FPRH #GBV #SouthSudan #USAIDMOMENTUM

For the first time ever, there are more than 110 million people in the world who are forcibly displaced — fleeing persecution, conflict, and violence, among other atrocities. On World Refugee Day, we honor the strength, courage, and resilience of those forced to leave their homes. Meet three individuals who have faced unimaginable challenges with remarkable determination. 🌟 Alina in Ukraine who fled violence with her daughters and has discovered a community of support. 🌟 Nyalual in South Sudan whose once-malnourished children are now thriving because of health care and livelihood support. 🌟 Hary in Peru who arrived with nothing but now has a successful business. This International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict, we are shining a light on the need to prevent, mitigate and respond to sexual and gender-based violence in fragile settings across the globe. Our Senior Technical Advisor for Gender-based Violence shares, "We must prioritize the needs of women and girls in conflict settings and put an end to violence. Not only does the risk of human trafficking increase alongside rape, sex-selective genocide, and child, early and forced marriages, but intimate partner violence is worsened by armed conflict and other humanitarian crises." Learn more about how we address gender-based violence: https://bit.ly/3Ou9gKK #EliminateSexualViolence #GBV #SGBV #EndGBV
