The Next Generation: African-Led Development
About us
CorpsAfrica is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2011 by a former Peace Corps Volunteer seeking to recognize and build on Peace Corps's enormous success by offering the same transformative experience to emerging leaders in Africa - giving them the chance to be a part of the solution for their own countries. CorpsAfrica applies the newest and best approaches to international development, including empowering local communities, promoting collaboration among NGOs and our development partners, monitoring and impact evaluation. We recruit men and women to move to high-poverty communities within their own countries for a year and initiate projects that fulfill key needs in their communities and whose impact and success can be carefully measured and monitored. CorpsAfrica started in Morocco and has expanded Senegal, Malawi, and Rwanda.

🌍 We're proud to share the launch of a transformative water project in Kathangachini, made possible by CorpsAfrica Volunteer Catherine Wanjiru and Davis & Shirtliff. This initiative involves constructing a shallow well and installing solar pumps to ensure sustainable water access for schools and the local church. By improving health and education for children, enhancing community resilience, and driving economic growth, we're working together to build a stronger, healthier community. Although Catherine has already started her second year of volunteering with CorpsAfrica/Senegal, her fellow volunteers supported the launch of this important project. #SustainableDevelopment #CommunityResilience #CorpsAfrica #WaterProject

Another milestone achieved in Nyejoro Village, Musanze District! Before departing for CorpsAfrica /Sénégal for his Exchange Volunteer program, Gilbert MBONIMPA implemented a transformative Tamarillo Community Project. As part of this project, 1,700 Tamarillo trees were planted alongside Irish potatoes. Last week, the community celebrated their first Irish potato harvest, yielding 4 tons and generating 3.4 million Rwf ($ 3,000). With the revenue, the community plans to expand their farm from 1,700 to 4,000 Tamarillo trees. #Economicempowerment #Youthinworks #ThisIsCorpsAfrica
