Honored to attend the street naming ceremony in tribute to former Commissioner Larry Suffredin. For 20 years (2002-2022), Larry championed our community—from pioneering a new governance structure for our health program, crucial during the COVID pandemic, to leading the charge on our assault weapons ban. His legacy continues to inspire us all. #CookCounty #CommunityHeroes #LarrySuffredin

Honored to preside over today’s special meeting celebrating the life and legacy of Commissioner Dennis Deer. Raised in Chicago’s West Side, he’s been a dedicated advocate for the 2nd District since 2017. A man of compassion and of social justice, he will be greatly missed. Thank you for your service, Commissioner Deer!

This morning, the Cook County Department of Facilities Management delivered a donation of nearly 1,000 new articles of clothing to New Life Center to support the “New Vecinos” team, which provides resources for new arrivals. The donated items come from the now-vacant Oak Forest Campus Long-Term Care Facility, which closed in 2011. We are proud of the hard work of the DFM Salvage Program to identify suitable items to reuse and donate. We are pleased to partner with New Life Center and their migrant relief efforts, and to close the chapter on one of our buildings while giving back to the newest residents of Cook County.

Yesterday, we joined Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi and other officials to celebrate $500,000 in federal funding for a key project on Central Road in Hoffman Estates and South Barrington. This 1.3-mile project will improve the road, add a new stormwater system, and create a multi-use path connecting the Forest Preserves to the Pace Park-n-Ride at Barrington Road. This will enhance our cycling network and improve community connectivity. #CookCounty #Infrastructure #CommunityProjectFunding #HoffmanEstates #SouthBarrington
