With annual output that is nearly 90% carbon-free, our hydro, wind and solar facilities paired with the nation’s largest nuclear fleet have the generating capacity to power the equivalent of 15 million homes, providing about 10% of the nation’s clean energy. We are further accelerating the nation’s transition to a carbon-free future by helping our customers reach their sustainability goals, setting our own ambitious goal of achieving 100% carbon-free generation by 2040, and by investing in promising emerging technologies to eliminate carbon emissions across all sectors of the economy. https://www.constellationenergy.com/our-company/what-we-stand-for/our-purpose.htm Learn more at www.constellation.com or on Twitter at @ConstellationEG. Reliability is the name of the game across our generation fleet, including at Conowingo Hydroelectric Dam where teams this week inspected the site’s 100-year-old infrastructure during a planned outage. This 28-foot butterfly valve is used to stop water flow to allow for routine turbine repairs. It’s all part of our year-round work to maintain and operate Maryland’s largest source of renewable energy at world-class levels.

A new industry study details how powering next-generation data centers by connecting them directly to a nuclear plant instead of relying on the transmission grid saves consumers money, benefits grid reliability and makes more efficient use of clean, carbon-free energy. The study, authored by former PJM Chief Operations Officer Michael Kormos, a 32-year energy industry veteran, explains how costly transmission infrastructure build and long interconnection delays can be avoided by locating the data center behind the meter at a nuclear plant and allocating the associated costs to the data center, rather than other customers on the grid. Safe to say we are thrilled for Sherri Campbell who, as part of the Vehicles for Change Independence Day Car Giveaway, is now a first-time car owner. The car donation was made possible through Constellation’s Powering Change initiative, which champions economic equity through workforce development. Senior Workforce Development Manager Ilana Bowen was on hand to present the keys to Sherri, who stated she’s excited to be able to drive herself to her new job next week, as well as have the freedom to take her young son to beach later this summer.
