Carly brings an extensive background of work with Native-led nonprofits, donor education, and advocacy, with great success in increasing support for Native-led initiatives. Vanessa comes to the board with deep-rooted experience in racial and economic justice organizing, building power and solidarity within communities of color. We are honored to have their expertise on our board as we continue our mission to align resources to social justice movements. The Fund for an Inclusive California has deep and longstanding relationships with community organizations across the state. In our experience, the real magic and possibility of our work happens when we listen to field leaders’ insights firsthand, to learn about their priorities and the dynamic landscape they are navigating. Earlier this year, Common Counsel Foundation in collaboration with the California Housing and Homelessness Policy Funders Network, brought funders together to learn from community partners’ perspectives and go beyond usual approaches to housing. We created spaces for peers in the sector to explore new possibilities and widen the aperture of what is needed from #philanthropy in the fight for housing justice.
