Aspiring Transnational Psychologist for Japanese Expatriates and Their Families in the U.S.
We need your help! A research team led by Dr. Lisa Suzuki, Department Vice Chair and Associate Professor of Applied Psychology at New York University, is seeking participants for a groundbreaking study on the emotional impact of racial discrimination on Asian Americans. The study closes on 7/31/24. Our study is an evaluation of the work of Dr. Robert Carter, Professor Emeritus of Psychology and Education at Columbia University. We are specifically examining the emotional impact of racial encounters and how racial discrimination affects Asian Americans in terms of psychological and emotional reactions. This research is approved by an Institutional Review Board (IRB) and funded by NYU. Participants will be asked to complete a short demographic survey and a series of scales focusing on encounters of racial discrimination, perceived stress, racial identity, and mental health status. We understand that there is an investment of time required but we ask for your support given the current racial dynamics in our country and more specifically how the pandemic has impacted racial incidents targeting Asian Americans. Participation is voluntary, and there are no consequences for choosing not to participate or withdrawing from the study.
