Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that often goes unspoken, despite its prevalence. This National PTSD Awareness Month, Collective Health recognizes with empathy and support the 5 out of every 100 adults (or 5%) in the U.S. who suffer from PTSD annually, along with their families and caregivers. Veterans and women are more likely to experience PTSD at some point in their lives. To raise awareness, our employee resource groups Collective Veterans and Able Collective (supporting the disabled and their allies) teamed up with our Care Navigators today to share facts about PTSD with our employees and how Collective Health supports members affected by it. PTSD can occur after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. Symptoms may include flashbacks, nightmares, avoidance of trauma reminders, difficulty sleeping or concentrating. Therapy, medication, or a combination can treat PTSD. Not all wounds are visible. If you or someone you know is experiencing PTSD symptoms, reach out to a mental health professional or support network. Together we can make a difference. #PTSDawareness #mentalhealth
