The Development Finance Corporation (DFC) is an independent federal agency that is uniquely positioned to ensure America's geopolitical influence on the world stage as a provider of affordable, reliable, and clean energy security for decades to come. Unfortunately, important allies rely on imported Russian and Chinese energy to maintain their economies. Supercharging the U.S. DFC will make it an effective tool for foreign policy that will have economic and security benefits. Read more in this opinion piece about solutions to streamline and add additional authority to the DFC in the Center for the National Interest by our CEO Jeremy Harrell! https://lnkd.in/gAWs3bfn

In December 2023, the DOE Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations (OCED) selected three carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) projects totaling $890 million: - Baytown CCS Project in Texas, - Project Tundra in North Dakota, and - The Sutter Decarbonization Project in California. Congress has put the pieces on the table to scale up CCUS. If we have the permitting piece and put them all together, the U.S. can reduce emissions and continue leading the world. ClearPath’s Kelsey Grant and Savita Bowman write how all of this can come together in their new blog, Putting all the Carbon Management Innovation Pieces Together. https://lnkd.in/gvsMEEsK

Natural gas plays an important role in reducing CO2 emissions from the U.S. power sector, but to reduce global emissions by 2050, GHG emissions created by the natural gas supply chain (NGSC) must be reduced even further. The National Petroleum Council approved a study that researches ways to reduce CO2 and methane across the NGSC. Dive deeper in this new blog by Karen Obenshain, Sc.D.: https://lnkd.in/gcXkNs7w

It was an honor to represent ClearPath's priorities for America's global clean energy leadership at the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation's recent public hearing. What's clear: America’s competitors are bringing enormous resources to dominate global energy markets, which requires U.S. trade and development financing to be more agile and strategic. With the right policies in place, the future of energy and climate is bright at home and abroad. So excited to have been part of this study! In spring 2024, the National Petroleum Council (NPC), a federal advisory council to the United States Department of Energy (DOE), approved the study, “Charting the Course: Reducing GHG Emissions in the U.S. Natural Gas Value Chain.” The study looks at ways to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4) emissions across the U.S. natural gas supply chain (NGSC). https://lnkd.in/gSmzWF9f

In late March, the U.S. Department of Energy announced $6 billion in funding for industrial decarbonization demos! I'm excited to publish a blog highlighting key projects and why this is a crucial first step in scaling up technologies essential for industrial decarbonization. Key takeaways: 💭 14 million metric tons of emissions avoided annually 🏭 Building two large-scale cement CCS facilities for the first time in the U.S. ⚙ Two commercial-scale clean steel facilities funded ⚡ Funding for first-of-a-kind commercial projects producing innovative cement You can read the blog on ClearPath's website here: https://lnkd.in/dZBseJ2a

Plant Vogtle is now the largest generator of clean energy in the nation! With units 3&4 now commercially running, they'll produce enough clean electricity to power an estimated 1,000,000 homes and businesses for the next 60 to 80 years. Congrats, Georgia Power Company and Southern Company! https://lnkd.in/eJG_tdy5

10 years ago, Jay Faison founded ClearPath, and the climate debate sure looked different back then. U.S. emissions have decreased by 15%, more than any other nation. That hasn’t happened by chance; conservative clean energy leaders have catalyzed innovation policies, including: 🔹Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program concept in 2016; 🔹45Q tax incentive in 2018; and 🔹The Energy Act of 2020, which culminated with new legislation like the Better Energy Storage Technology (BEST) Act and the Advanced Geothermal Innovation Leadership (AGILE) Act. Learn more about ClearPath’s efforts in Faison’s latest piece below, “A Decade of Dedication.” Thank you for your leadership, Jay! https://lnkd.in/ekQtV6rc
