The Mission depends completely on the gifts of God's people--individuals, churches, groups, foundations, and businesses who care about the poor and homeless. City Union Mission continues to demonstrate success in Adult Education with 86% of all long term program participants achieving at least 1 NRS level gain (2 grade levels) in Reading before versus after programming. The gain in Math was 43%. Many thanks to our professional adult educators on staff and dedicated volunteer tutors. Higher literacy and numeracy help establish vocational success and are an important part of whole person, gospel-centered Christian ministry. We had the honor to thank the electricians in person from Local IBEW 53. They have been donating to City Union Mission for close to 25 years and are having a huge impact in our neighborhood. Their donations go towards feeding, sheltering and providing case management to our homeless in Kansas City. Thank you for caring for our community!

The men in our Christian Life Program (CLP) recently had a beautiful spring hike at Mill Creek Streamway Park in Shawnee. We observed chestnut and oak trees as well as flowering honeysuckle, dogwood and redbuds. The 3-mile loop was also great exercise with 6,500 steps for everyone. The outdoor portion of CLP is a part of the Wisdom Pyramid, a new curricular piece, incorporating nature, beauty, and literature into daily life. "How many are your works, Lord! In wisdom you made them all." —Psalm 104:25
