We are thrilled to share that Amber Porter has been honored with the Advocate State Award for Excellence by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) for Arizona.   Amber’s impact on the nursing community is profound. With nearly 35 years of nursing experience and 15 years as an advanced practice nurse, she has dedicated herself to advocating for Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and advancing their role in healthcare. Her work with the Arizona Nursing Association’s Chapter 9, where she has served as Membership Chair, Secretary, Chapter President, and now Governmental Affairs Officer for Arizona Nurses Association, has been instrumental in removing barriers to care and promoting the profession.   This award, typically given to non-NPs such as physicians, legislators, and educators, recognizes Amber’s exceptional contributions to leadership, policy advocacy, and community affairs. Her efforts have significantly increased awareness and recognition of NPs.   Congratulations Amber! We are proud to have you on our team, making a difference daily.

The sun beats down on the dirt outside a Phoenix soup kitchen. Our street medicine provider stands beside a young woman, her eyes fixed on the ground. "Deep breath for me," she says gently, hands ready. At this moment, the weight of our mission becomes clear. The numbers are stark: From April 2023 to March 2024, Maricopa County saw a troubling trend: for every ten people who found housing, 19 more were facing homelessness. Over the past year, 31,071 unique individuals were served through street outreach, emergency shelters, and transitional housing, according to the Maricopa Association of Governments Homelessness Trends data. This young woman is one of those 31,071. She has a story, a past, and a hope for the future. Our mission is to meet people like her where they are, offering immediate, compassionate care and a glimmer of hope. Our teams hit these streets daily, offering healthcare, resources, and connections to those often overlooked. Everyone deserves a shot at rewriting their story, no matter where they lay their heads at night. This is our city's reality, but it doesn't have to be the final chapter.  Don't just double-tap – triple-impact this post. 1️⃣ Hit that follow button for more street-level stories  2️⃣ Share to spread the word (and the love)  3️⃣ Donate (link in bio) to keep our team rolling Every like, share, and dollar helps us reach more people who need us. Let's show Maricopa County what community means. #StreetMedicine #MaricopaCounty #CommunityHealth #Outreach #Phoenix #Homelessness #HealthcareForAll #Nonprofit

Our street medicine team is out again, providing vital hydration to those who need it most. This image captures a moment of care that goes beyond the clinic - it's about meeting our patients where they are. We're honored to be recognized in a recent NPR feature. Dr. Jim Withers, founder of the Street Medicine Institute and a pioneer in this field, praised our approach: "It very much is in the spirit of street medicine, which is to adapt to the people and circumstances that they're living in, rather than expecting them to come to the system." His words affirm our mission and the tireless work of our team. Every day, we strive to break down barriers to healthcare, one patient at a time. #StreetMedicine #HealthcareInnovation #CircleTheCity #CommunityHealth
