Children First: Our top priority is ensuring a better future for our children 2. Integrity: We are accountable for quality and transparency 3. The El Paso Electric Company Charitable Foundation has awarded CHILDREN AT RISK a generous $10,000 grant, and Sunflower Bank, N.A. has donated $5,000 to support our "Building Gold Ribbon Schools Research Project - A Blueprint for Success in High Poverty Schools in Texas." This project aims to identify and replicate the tools, systems, and best practices from Gold Ribbon Schools, ultimately increasing the number of high-performing schools in high poverty areas. By doing so, we strive to improve the future quality of life for children in El Paso, ensuring they have access to high-quality education. With these grants, CHILDREN AT RISK will be empowered to dive deeper into the strategies that make Gold Ribbon Schools exceptional and work to bring these proven methodologies to more schools across our city. A huge thank you to the The Electric Company Charitable Foundation and Sunflower Bank for their support in our mission to uplift our community and create a brighter future for all children. ❤️ 🙏 Please click here to support our efforts: https://lnkd.in/gPRRxdu2

We are excited to announce that the Trellis Foundation has awarded CHILDREN AT RISK a generous $50,000 grant to support our state wide Opportunity Youth & Young Adult Advocacy efforts! At CHILDREN AT RISK, we leverage our reach to develop impactful policy recommendations and work to inform policymakers. As we gear up for the 89th Legislative Session, our focus will be on advocating for Opportunity Youth & Young Adults—those between the ages of 16-24 who are neither in school nor employed. The term "Opportunity Youth" is relatively new, and it’s important to educate legislators about the unique challenges this population faces. These young people urgently need housing, nutritional support, mental and physical health care, educational opportunities, and pathways to careers that provide a living wage. While we know many teens and young adults are struggling, there is a significant lack of localized data on how many youth and young adults have become disconnected. This grant will enable us to continue our vital work in advocating for these young individuals, ensuring they have the resources and opportunities they need to thrive. Thank you, Trellis Foundation, for partnering with us in this critical mission!

We are deeply grateful to GECU for their $50,000 commitment to CHILDREN AT RISK'S “Responding to Childhood Trauma - El Paso” project. This project aims to improve our understanding of mental health and its impact on educational outcomes in El Paso, identify and bridge gaps in the services provided to children and ensure that Texas’ policies affecting children are shaped by insights from the communities they impact. Our goal is for this to lead to more informed and effective solutions for addressing the mental health challenges faced by children in our state and community. Across Texas, but particularly in El Paso, our children are suffering from a mental health crisis. Support this work: >>https://lnkd.in/g3SjBtYX Learn More: 1. A recent study reveals that El Paso has the lowest availability of therapists for supporting Hispanic communities in the U.S. >>https://lnkd.in/ejCzexxg 2. In 2023, 75% of youth with major depression in Texas did not receive any mental health treatment, ranking the state 51st out of 52 nationwide. >> https://lnkd.in/gsxq8NwD

For 35 years, C@R has pushed for systemic change by advocating for child-friendly policies within education, health, safety & opportunity, immigration, and equity, that ensures Texas kids can grow into the best ‘them’ that they can be. But we can’t do this work without you. The 89th Legislative Session is likely to be among the most difficult we’ve faced, but we’re determined to move the needle #forchildren next January. Support our work and make a mid-year gift today! Thanks to a generous supporter, all gifts made before August 16 will be MATCHED up to $10,000! Support CHILDREN AT RISK >> https://lnkd.in/g3SjBtYX
