𝗘𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗢𝟮-𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝟱𝟮𝟱 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱-𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗽 𝗳𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗝𝗙𝗞 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗙𝗢 A round-trip flight from JFK International Airport in New York to San Francisco International Airport produces 1.6 tonnes of CO2 – more emissions per passenger than the annual per capita emissions of 66 different countries. Let’s use the standard Global Warming Potential (GWP) metric of GWP 100 – which considers the 100-year global warming potential of methane – to calculate the potential equivalent greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction enabled by our Methane Tamer™ feed additive. Methane Tamer is scientifically proven to reduce enteric methane emissions from cattle by up to 90%, but let’s assume a conservative 70% reduction. Feeding Methane Tamer to just 10% of the world's cattle (150 million) and reducing their methane emissions by 70% would decrease GHG emissions nearly equivalent to the emissions produced by 𝟭𝟴𝟯 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱-𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗽𝗳𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗝𝗙𝗞 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗙𝗢. If we use the GWP 20 metric – which considers the 20-year global warming potential of methane – a conservative 70% reduction in enteric methane emissions enabled by Methane Tamer would be nearly equivalent to the CO₂ emissions from over 𝟱𝟮𝟱 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱-𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗽 𝗳𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗝𝗙𝗞 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗙𝗢. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁: 𝗠𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Founded in 2006, The Climate Reality Project (CRP) is a non-profit leader advocating for aggressive policies and urgent action to combat global warming pollution and the climate crisis. It’s no surprise that this organization was founded and is led by former US Vice President and environmentalist Al Gore, who first sounded the climate-crisis alarm in 1976. After joining the United States House of Representatives at just 28 years of age, he held the first congressional hearings on climate change. And in 2007, he shared the Nobel Peace Prize for his work on climate change. That dedication to the biggest issue facing our planet is carried on via the CRP, which focuses on educating and advocating for climate change solutions. With a global network of 3.5 million people, including over 46,000 climate leaders in 152 countries, CRP hosts global campaigns, events, trainings, and more to accelerate and mobilize climate action. The organization’s vision is for “a swift, systemic, and just transition toward net zero emissions by the middle of this century, with major steps toward that goal by 2030.” And we share in that vision, with our own goal of driving Gigatonne-scale reductions of CO2-e emissions by 2030. 2030 matters because, according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), “It’s now or never, if we want to limit global warming to 1.5°C (2.7°F).
