Today, The Community Foundation is honoring the legacy of David A. Stein, who passed away on Saturday. David was an innovator and entrepreneur, with no greater example than seeding the $38 million Quality Education for All Fund to improve the quality of education in all Title 1 schools in Duval County. He believed in his community and what could be accomplished when we collectively bring our unique talents and resources in service to others. We are honored to have worked alongside David as he ‘made a difference’, and will forever honor his lasting gifts to our community and the countless organizations he cared for deeply. May his memory be a blessing.

This week, WGA Director Nikki Sabol hosted our monthly staff meeting with an unusual icebreaker. She invited us to plant seeds in small clay pots and discuss how we, too, are nurturing our growth as professionals in our work to build a better community through philanthropy. It was a great activity for the summer!

As part of our 60th anniversary celebration, we're getting out into the community to share our message about why philanthropy matters, and how giving our time, talent, treasure, testimony and ties can help make our communities better. On Saturday, TCF President Isaiah M. Oliver spoke to a crowd of more than 600 Stantonians at New Stanton's annual alumni gathering, thanks to the introduction of our trustee, Judge Brian J. Davis, who is a proud alumnus.
