Purpose & Hope
About us
The Center for Social Innovation proves purpose and hope for people with challenged backgrounds by creating new pathways full of opportunity and support in a college setting. The Center was launched on August 31, 2020 through a generous donation from the Gaylord Foundation. Our goal is to help answer the "what's next?" question people have after they get sober, receive custody of their children back, or other life-changing events. We focus on training and developing our students to find who they are (identity) and help them decide what they want to do with their newfound lives. We believe not only in second chances, but also that long-term and sustainable recovery is found when people are motivated by hope and empowered to become leaders and make a difference in the world.

🌟🔥 “From Struggle to Success: Michael’s Hard-Fought Journey of Transformation” 🔥🌟 Meet Michael Holder, a graduate of CFSI Cohort #3. Coming from a challenging background marked by decades of addiction, drug dealing, and crime, Michael's story is a powerful testament to resilience and determination. 💪✨ Michael's life was a cycle of trips to jail, homelessness, and addiction. He completed an 18-month drug court program while in CFSI, aimed at reforming individuals with criminal backgrounds. Through CFSI, Michael found a pathway to higher education and received invaluable leadership training and personal and professional development. 📚🏆 Empowered by an internship opportunity at the Lynn Institute for Healthcare Research, Inc., under the leadership of Jeaneen Pointer (Executive Director, Hope Strategies), he successfully transitioned into the workforce. With the skills and certifications he earned through CFSI, Michael became a Peer Recovery Support Specialist certified by the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services. Today, he works at Diversion Hub as the Treatment Court Program Navigator, making a significant impact by providing life-stabilizing resources and services to those navigating the justice system. 🏢🌍 Michael’s journey is a powerful reminder of the impact of perseverance and a supportive community like CFSI can have on someone’s life. He is on track to graduate from Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City with an associate degree in Addiction Counseling. 🎓 Michael’s advice to others facing similar challenges: “Never give up on your dreams, no matter how tough it gets.” 💥🚀 Inspired by Michael’s story? Like, share, follow us, and comment to show your support!
