The Oldest Newest Neighborhood Cathedral District Jax is growing a leafy, vibrant neighborhood in the heart of Downtown Jacksonville. Anchored by five historic churches, the 36-block Cathedral District will include businesses, residential housing, neighborhood schools, public art, employment opportunities and more. Our goal is to create a community with love at its core. A thriving enclave where residents of all ages, backgrounds, interests and abilities can live, work, and play together. Calling all Artists! Request for Proposals: Cathedral Hill Entryway Art CDJ is inviting all artists to help us bring the vision of Cathedral Hill to life with a $43,500 investment into two entryway art installations. With the financial support of AARP Community Challenge Grant, the @Downtown Investment Authority Jacksonville, St. John’s Cathedral sponsored by Preston and Joan Haskell, Aging True Community Senior Services and JEA , CDJ is sending out a Call for Artist to create a welcoming entryway art installation that reinforces the architectural and historical identity of Cathedral Hill. Haskell Planning & Design Collaborative Director Frederick Jones, AICP, RSP1, will participate in a webinar titled “Driving Change in the District; The Power of Two-Way Streets,” an educational conversation about how traffic affects Cathedral District-Jax, Inc., at 3 p.m. May 16. The event is free and open to the public.
