Transform chaotic operations into structured profit machines.

"Is your child graduating today?" I was asked this many times on Sunday and answered, "no, I'm here to support my mentee." This year's college graduation was special, and she flourished beyond what we had dreamed. Thanks to Carolina Youth Coalition, I was connected with an amazing Gates Fellow in the fall of 2019. Her senior year in high school, and freshman year at Brown University were turned upside down by covid-19. This amazing young woman persevered and thrived! She graduated with a dual concentration in Economics and Visual Arts, and studied abroad in England and traveled the continent. She was active with many groups on campus and explored every interest. My heart was full of pride for her this weekend and I'm incredibly excited to witness her next adventure, working for a prestigious consulting firm. #everyteamneedsadream

We are thrilled to celebrate Honeywell as our 2024 Donor of the Year! 🎉 CYC’s partnership with Honeywell is rooted in a shared commitment to community investment, education, and youth empowerment. A hallmark of this high-powered partnership has been Honeywell's multi-faceted support of CYC. This year, its employees actively engaged as Young Professional Board members and mentors to Fellows. CYC juniors and seniors had the opportunity to visit Honeywell's state-of-the-art HQ to learn about various career pathways. Additionally, Honeywell employees assembled over 300 care packages filled with essential items for College Fellows during midterm and final exam periods. The highlight of our partnership was the invitation for 10 CYC Fellows to participate in the Honeywell Leadership Challenge Academy at the US Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL. This unique week-long experience exposed students to hands-on STEM activities and leadership development. From zero-gravity simulators to high-flying ropes courses, Fellows honed their problem-solving and teamwork skills while meeting students from across the globe. Accepting the award for Honeywell was Randell Nairn, MBA, Honeywell employee, and the incoming CYC Young Professional Board President. We are grateful for Honeywell’s partnership and look forward to working together to empower the next generation of hashtag #futureshapers! #cyctorchawards #everydreamneedsateam

*Mentors Make Magic* At CYC, our mission is fueled by the dedication and passion of our incredible volunteers and mentors! We are immensely grateful for the time, energy, and heart they pour into supporting our Fellows. We are thrilled to recognize Stephen Young as our 2024 Mentor of the Year! Stevie has exemplified what it means to be a compassionate, knowledgeable, and unwavering source of support for his mentee. Abel Adem (right), Stevie's mentee, shares his heartfelt experience: "My mentor always saw the best in me even when I did not have confidence, which is what pushed me to be even better moving forward. For example, I did not get into my first choice college. I felt like life was over, like I was a failure to those around me. But my mentor proved to me that whichever school that I go to, is the right one for me. Through his words of encouragement, constant checkups, a listening ear, and unwavering support, he has instilled confidence in me beyond the classroom." Thank you, Stevie, for your outstanding mentorship and for being a true beacon of hope and guidance for Abel and so many others. Your dedication embodies the spirit of our community. To all our volunteers and mentors, we can't thank you enough for your invaluable contributions! 💙 🖤 #cyctorchawards #everydreamneedsateam #VolunteerAppreciation

The Creating Access to Pathways for Success, or CAPS Scholarship, is generously funded by the The Merancas Foundation, Inc. This award provides a full gap scholarship for students planning to attend North Carolina public universities! CAPS scholars are hand-selected CYC Fellows who earned this scholarship through their academic standing and their participation in self-development and growth workshops. These Fellows have worked hard all throughout their senior year to grow, learn, and achieve. Congratulations to this year's CAPS recipients and thank you to the Merancas Foundation for removing barriers to higher education for our Fellows! Special shoutout to CYC's Director of College Access & Community Resources, Lindsey Graves, on an awesome job leading our second cohort through the program! #cyctorchawards #everydreamneedsateam #classof2024
