Today is National Co-working Day, so we wanted to highlight our co-working space on the third floor of the Center. This space was created to house smaller staffed agencies. Throughout the years, some of the agencies have outgrown the space, so it is also a good starter space for grassroots organizations. Currently, HopeWorks is occupied by Blue Ridge Community Action, RWCI and Just Do It Movement, and next month BirthRight will be moving in. If you’re interested in learning more about the space, visit our website at https://lnkd.in/g_tHqTSj.

Over the past year, Ascend served as the fiscal sponsor for eight grassroots charitable organizations that received funding from the Mecklenburg County Alcoholic Beverage Control Board. Last week, we assisted these agencies with the final documentation required to close out their grants in good standing. These eight local organizations received funds that totaled $162K for their work to provide education, prevention, treatment and/or research of alcohol and/or substance use disorders. Congratulations to each of these agencies for the important service they provide to our community! A Giving Heart Project, Inc., Exodus Foundation.org, Gracious Hands - Transitional Housing for Homeless Women and Children, Lord of the Streets, Mecklenburg Council of Elders, No Bounds II, Our Daily Bread Foundation and Planet Improv

Additionally, they explained ways that the other agencies can connect families to their services. What a great example of collaboration!

Janise Robinson is part of our HR team and our resident Talent Acquisition Specialist. She shares her why for working at Ascend: “I work at Ascend because I love the Charlotte community. Working here gives me the opportunity to support the agencies that love the community the same way I do. I also enjoy helping people find their careers and passions – and Ascend gives me the joy of doing that every day.”
