There were a lot of smiles on the pickleball court last week! ...And maybe just a little competitive shouting and trash talking. Our foremen and other leaders on our team got together for a friendly game of pickleball and great food at Chicken N Pickle. Everyone had a blast whether they'd played before or it was their first time. Looking forward to more fun team-building activities in the future!

The Ozanam Manor II project for The Society of St. Vincent de Paul - Phoenix is wrapping up! The project includes the installation of lighting, both indoor and outdoor, and fire alarm systems in this temporary housing facility for adults experiencing homelessness in Phoenix. We're honored to be a part of this project that is expected to permanently rehouse over 2,000 individuals by next year.

It's officially summer here in Phoenix, and with temperatures well over 100 degrees, keeping our workers hydrated is crucial. Each CSE employee is given a hydro-pack to wear on the job site, providing them with easy access to water that lasts significantly longer than regular water bottles. The increased convenience of staying hydrated throughout the day, along with frequent breaks and earlier work schedules is keeping our workers healthy and productive for the long summer!

What are your top challenges integrating technology into your construction workflow? The American Subcontractors Association of Arizona gathered at CSE last week to discuss solutions to the toughest tech problems. The key takeaways… ⚠️ Problem 1: Multi-generational differences in staff make it difficult to introduce new technology. ✅ Solution: create a cross-training program where “old” and “new” school teams teach core competencies. Assign mentors across generations to foster knowledge-sharing in both experience and technology. ⚠️ Problem 2: New technology rolled out unsuccessfully due to lack of training. ✅ Solution: launch an educational initiative including weekly “lunch and learn” sessions with presenters from different departments. Maintain a training calendar and make material available for all staff. ⚠️ Problem 3: Multiple platforms generate high costs. ✅ Solution: conduct a platform evaluation by quantifying annual licensing, maintenance, and labor costs for all systems. Pilot new technology in a single department to validate company-wide rollout and look for more cost-effective competitor products/bundles to replace existing platforms. While it should make life easier, harnessing the full potential of technology presents its own challenges. What are your tips for finding success with tech?

Proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) practices and procedures safeguard workers from hazardous energy releases. Our LOTO station provides easy access for workers to obtain the necessary locks and tags to warn others about potentially dangerous energy sources on the job site. Once the equipment or machine has been properly serviced, the locks are removed to indicate that they are safe to use again. Following OSHA's lockout/tagout protocol is incredibly important to us to ensure that our workers, as well as any other team we may be working with, will always make it home safely.
