Empowering the Future of Energy! I'm delighted to share my experience as an Energy Analyst Intern at the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) Energy Division, Climate Initiative, Renewables, and Administrative Branch (Tariff Unit). Witnessing a live hearing with CPUC President Alice Reynolds, Commissioner John Reynolds, Commissioner Darcie L. H., Commissioner Karen Douglas and Administrative Law Judge Elaine Lau provided valuable insight into the policymaking process which has always been my desire. Seeing leaders shape California's energy policies was truly inspiring. Contributing to policy development that will impact the state's energy landscape is a privilege. California is at the forefront of energy policy, and I'm honored to be a part of it. As I continue on this journey, I'm excited to learn more and make meaningful contributions to shaping the future of energy. Let's empower the future of energy together! #CPUC #EnergyDivision #EnergyPolicy #CaliforniaLeadingTheWay #InternLife #EmpoweringTheFuture"

Colleagues and I gathered to greet Executive Director Rachel Peterson, who made time during her visit to the Los Angeles area, to welcome newer employees, share her priorities, and shine a light on the multi-industry work we all do on behalf of Californians. Nice way to round out the week together. ❤ Visit https://lnkd.in/gzC5EjfT to find your next job working with us at the California Public Utilities Commission.

Deputy Executive Director- Consumer Policy, Transportation, and Enforcement at the California Public Utilities Commission
I was recently able to join Southern California based Rail Transit staff in LA and observed an inspection of the Angels's Flight railway, the world's shortest railway first put in service in 1901. Its one of the smaller Rail Transit Agencies under CPUC jurisdiction, but has provided more than 100 million rides on these short tracks. The two railway cars currently in service are the original cars from 1901, with some updates and modifications overseen by Rail Safety Division. Interested in a career doing interesting and impactful safety work? The Rail Transit Branch will have a number of engineering, inspector, and supervisory positions posted soon- check back or send me a msg for more information. https://lnkd.in/gWnbZHwQ

Exciting news from the team at CPUC Communications Division! Today, staff issued the first in a series of recommendations for grant awards from the Last Mile Federal Funding Account (FFA) program. This program is part of a historic investment in digital equity envisioned by the Administration of Governor Newsom and the California Legislature under Senate Bill 156 (Budget Act of 2021). The $2 billion FFA program aims to connect communities to digital education, employment, and health services through the deployment of reliable fiber broadband infrastructure. Last year, the program received 484 applications totaling over $4.6 billion in grants from local governments, ISPs, Tribal Nations, and non-profits. The first two resolutions released today recommend projects for award in 6 counties, totaling over $88 million. Additionally, CPUC will award 3 projects via staff delegated authority for an extra $16 million. The foundation for this achievement was laid with 109 grants for technical assistance, totaling $50 million, provided to communities across the state by CPUC. Moving forward, recommendations for awards will be released on a rolling basis into the Fall. A vote of the Commission is required to approve award recommendations. A big shoutout to the team for their dedication in developing and launching this significant program. Collaborating with dedicated and talented colleagues has made this journey more enjoyable, and these wins even sweeter. #CPUC #DigitalEquity #GrantAwards #BroadbandInfrastructure #fiber Robert Osborn Michael Minkus Karen Eckersley Ravneet K. It was a good opportunity yesterday to share the stage with others devoted to getting broadband deployed in communities that have been historically ignored and making long term investments in communications infrastructure in those communities.
