CalSPRA is working to create a climate for better public understanding, commitment and support of education. Our programs are designed to serve the needs of various levels of expertise and roles in school communication. Professional development programs range from panels of speakers on current issues to the “how to” seminars that offer practical tips on communication skills. We also provide members with valuable templates and checklists and a variety of ways to connect with others in the field. In short, CalSPRA provides connections, resources, and collaboration to support and inspire school communicators.

  • CalSPRA is excited to announce a new program designed to provide new professionals with everything they need to be successful in this challenging role. From understanding best practices to learning about the tools that make the role easier, our new School Communication and Engagement Certificate Program will provide it all. The nine-month program starts this June and culminates in an in-person graduation at next year's conference. The course will be facilitated by CalPSRA's own Executive Director, Trinette Marquis, APR and will feature guest experts throughout the year. Join Trinette Marquis, Executive Director of CalSPRA, for this certificate course to create an effective and flexible communication plan! You will cover the four-step public relations process, practical research ideas, setting measurable objectives, selecting the right strategies and tactics, and building measurement and evaluation into your plan so that you can demonstrate the value of your campaign. You will have homework each week, receive individualized feedback on your plan, and sessions will be recorded.   • Join us tomorrow, May 15, from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. for our “Build an Emergency Communications Guidebook” conference call-back session! 📞 Having an Emergency Communications Guidebook helps communicators and administrators react and respond to an emergency quickly. Attendees will walk through creating pocket statements based on the Butte County Office of Education Emergency Communications Guidebook and their own experiences. Pocket statements will be drafted to fit multiple scenarios, and customized to come from school site, district office, or county office of education officials.
