Harrell’s, a 500-employee manufacturing company focused on fertilizer and turf maintenance chemicals, was founded by Harrell's grandparents Ormond and Lucille Harrell in Lakeland in 1941. It started as a feed store and grew to multiple locations before pivoting from retail to manufacturing in 1985 under Harrell's leadership.

Thanks, Mark Gordon, for always representing the Business Observer so well!
Honored to be the guest speaker at the The Economic Club of Tampa luncheon yesterday. Talked about all things Business Observer - our history and what we do now to connect with readers and our audience (From the Corner Office podcast!) Some of the focus was on something we focus on - news and #digitalfirst journalism. (Of course, while I was pontificating on how far we have come in being a web-first newsroom, people loved reading the print issues we handed out.) Thanks for having me. Hat tip to my awesome colleague Laura Lyon for the photos and support!
