About us

Burial Beer Co. started out as Asheville's best kept secret in 2013, a “secret hideaway” that you stumble upon. Located in Asheville's, now named, "South Slope'' neighborhood, Burial has become a draw to many; a place of community. When it comes to our beer, we have a deep desire to memorialize certain beer styles and techniques from the Old World. Now Burial is known for taking traditional beers and infusing a modern twist on them. Since 2013 Burial not only expanded internally but demographically. In addition to Asheville's taproom, you can now visit us in Raleigh at The Exhibit, East Asheville's Forestry Camp Bar and Restaurant, and in Charlotte at The House of Relics. The recently resurrected historical Asheville property from the early 1900's is now known as Forestry Camp Bar and Restaurant. The ingredients used at our restaurant, much like the influential history of the property have a story. They have an origin and a meaning. Your visit here will transport you to a time where simplicity was honored, communities were connected and local farms were our life source.

Aim far outside. Land inside your mind. A World of Intention Lost To The Jaws of Urgency. A Double IPA. A collaborative tale with @enohammocks. Smattered with a dap of XTRA MAYO. Made to represent our foray into Asheville's summer fields. You tell us what it tastes like. 8%. Take all your purpose and follow it without question. Never linger in the distractions.

What means. And to what end. Will we fade. When Destiny Fails and We All Disappear. A Double IPA disappearing into the grasp of the Heavy Resin. Whirlpooled with Incognito, Cryo and Phastasm powder. Double Dry-Hopped with new harvest, hand selected Motueka, El Dorado, Mosaic, and Mosaic Cryo. Lemon lime granita topped with watermelon sour patch kids and a berry punch floater. 8.5%. The journey of serendipitous intention is often wielded with the ego. An odyssey paved in good intentions. Yet unraveled by the flaws of human thought.

Community Spotlight: Farmer Rick Rhinehart. Farmer Rick has been feeding his cattle at @rubybrownfarm Burial spent grain for more than a decade. Originally picking up on brew days at our original Collier Ave, he now swings by our main production brewery @burialforestrycamp multiple times a week. His century old, family-operated farm supplies our South Slope Kitchen with ground beef, which we proudly use for our burgers. An incredibly kind soul, Farmer Rick has also hosted parties for our entire staff. Ruby Brown Farm is located in the heart of Leicester, North Carolina. Their Black and Red Angus cattle are raised from birth to harvest on rich green pastures, free from hormones and enhancement. Their diet is supplemented by spent Burial grain, giving their beer a unique, grass fed, grain finished quality.

Help Averie save Keeping Together. One of our own is in need. As you may have heard by now, our dear friend Averie Swanson of Keeping Together has been presented with a devastating hurdle on her path to opening a brick and mortar in Santa Fe, NM. Her brewhouse supplier went belly up after she paid 90% of the total equipment contract. Though she was able to recover some small portion of the raw materials, it is looking extremely unlikely that she will be reimbursed for the large investment she paid in. This loss amounts to nearly a half a million dollars for her and her partner Pat. To read Averie's statement on the situation, head to the latest post on her profile - @averieswanson. Anyone that has followed her career through the years and witnessed the level of intentionality and personal touch that she has infused in everything that she does knows very well that the world we live in will be brighter and more beautiful with Keeping Together in it. Beyond that, I think we would all agree that the most important part of doing what we do is focused on building and fostering community. We believe that this moment, as difficult as it is, can be flipped on its head and act to galvanize our collective bond. The realistic repercussion of this scenario, knowing full well that Averie and Pat won’t simply give up, is that they restart their financing journey and attempt to find additional investors. Our view is that we, the craft beer community, can essentially act as their investors, to the best of our ability, and do so with the expectation of nothing in return beyond the camaraderie that comes with supporting our own. Believe us, we know full well the challenges that we all face in these modern times. We don’t believe anyone in our industry is exempt from the financial burdens of the moment. Because of that, this is no easy ask. Allow us to do our best to thwart any peer pressure here. Give what you can, if you can. If money is not feasible, I’m sure words or other actions will be just as meaningful. Averie and Pat need our support, in any way that we can give it. Cheers and thank you, The Burial Team

Because we were even when we never could be. The aimless endeavor of our physical matter. Burial & Friends Week rages on with three fresh collaboration draft releases hitting our Taprooms this week, as well as our now full, three-state distribution network in NC, SC, and TN beginning next week. Tennessee - we're psyched to celebrate our state-wide launch with y'all next week. We've got an array of events lined up at some of our favorite establishments. Come see us: Tuesday, 7/16 - @lqdsmktn, Murfreesboro Wednesday 7/17 - @vinyltapnashville, Nashville Thursday 7/18 - @atlanticalehouse, Johnson City Thursday 7/18 - @nnoquarternash, Nashville Friday 7/19 - @livingwatersbrewing, Nashville Saturday 7/20- @hammerandale - Memphis Lifejacket. A Grapefruit Lager. In an ode to these sun drenched days of summer we teamed up with our friends at @devilsfootbrew to create a smooth light lager saturated with grapefruit zest to provide life support for those days of maximum outdoor enjoyment. Mashed with North Star Pils and conditioned on 30lbs of freshly zested grapefruit peel. Quench your thirst with notes of paloma water ice fused with squirt, drizzled on loaves of rustic sourdough. 2.9%. The Mirage of Substance. A West Coast-Style IPA. Another collaboration with our friends at @livingwatersbrewing. Mashed with extra pale pilsner and chit malts. Double dry-hopped with Vista, Simcoe and Citra. Citrus shaved ice topped with candied grapefruit zest and drizzled in pineberry syrup. 7.0%. Bushfire. A Light Lager. An offering made in collaboration with our friends @tcbt, who know a thing or two about summer crushers. Mashed with American pilsner malt and rice, hopped delicately with American Crystal hops and fermented low and slow, enjoy this in memory of all those nights we tried to forget. 4.9% These, the days of consequential reminders.
