The transformative reuse of a former factory building at Wesleyan University into a new, integrative arts lab is underway! Now under construction, the design will deliver new space for visual and performing arts, as well as maker spaces and a flexible arts commons. Additions to the existing T-shape complex on the corner of Hamlin and College Streets will expand capacity for students and faculty to perform and rehearse. At the Harvard University Graduate School of Design, a carbon-conscious renovation of Gund Hall is underway. Led by Bruner/Cott Architects, the project will improve energy efficiency while maintaining the architectural integrity of John Andrews' original design and ultimately serve as a model for similar revitalization of other mid-twentieth century buildings. As Bostonians, we've got a sweet spot for #dirtywater... but not when it comes to our public waterways. In honor of #EarthDay, members of the B/C staff volunteered with the Charles River Conservancy, cleaning up trash and litter along the Charles River. The Earth Day Charles River Cleanup is an annual event and builds on a national effort as part of the American Rivers National Cleanup, which has removed over 25 million pounds of trash from America's waterways. This cleanup event brings together more than 3,000 volunteers annually to pick up litter, remove invasive species and assist with park maintenance along all 80 miles of the Charles River.
