Brighter Bites brings healthier choices into the homes, minds, and mouths of our children and their families. We’re a locally-started, globally-minded initiative that delivers fresh #fruits & #vegetables directly into our kids’ hands, teaching them how to use and choose a different kind of fast food. Every week, students bring home fifty servings of fresh produce from school, along with recipe cards, nutrition facts, and ideas for preparation. Brighter Bites is rooted in the belief that if we give our kids something better to munch on, they will. We often overlook the critical role that nutrition plays in our overall health. As Devon Klatell, Vice President of The Rockefeller Foundation's food initiative says in this TIME feature: "What we eat is the number one driver of poor health in the country."   The Foundation’s Food is Medicine (FIM) initiative is a pioneering approach that integrates nutritious food into healthcare to prevent and treat chronic diseases.   We have committed $100 million to FIM initiatives, including those at Adelante Mujeres and Brighter Bites.
