  • 🐾 At our shelter, we are proud to be the only facility in Dallas that offers a dedicated kennel for the pets of our Guests. 🏠🐶 This unique service helps eliminate barriers for our Guests, allowing them to feel welcome and secure knowing their beloved pets are cared for. And this is one of the stories of healthy and happy dogs at our shelter. Lucy has been battling arthritis in her back, causing her constant pain. But thanks to the incredible support from our sponsor, Dallas Pets Alive, and our dedicated vet partner, Mazie’s Mission, Lucy received the care she desperately needed. With the right medication and treatment, Lucy is now pain-free and back to her cheerful, playful self! We are beyond grateful to our sponsors for making this transformation possible. Join us in celebrating Lucy’s journey to recovery and the amazing work our partners do to help animals in need. 🐕 Donate to our Kennel https://lnkd.in/gFY3nJQm #DallasPetsAlive #MaziesMission #HappyTails #RescueDog #ChihuahuaLove #DallasShelter #PetFriendly #CommunitySupport

  • Independence Day 2024 will be here in a matter of hours. The firework “shacks”, their sales, and the setting off of fireworks in my neighborhood has already been making the animals “uncomfortable”! Dr. Debra and I will be very careful with our sparklers this year… I heard an interesting quote this past weekend – “Life’s greatest tragedy is already being where you are going”. I was made to stop and think. Trying to connect those 10 words to The Bridge Homeless Recovery Center, and our Guests, was not difficult. Too many Guests with whom we attempt to craft “just enough trust” believe that they are mired in the best of what life may have to offer. And their desperation with managing such a state of mind is what we are “trained up” to manage. Again, that we would aspire to empower adults experiencing homelessness in Dallas with the tools to homeless recovery as they move into sustainable housing expects that we believe we can make the tragic fade away. There is power in relationship… Thursday, across the United States of America, we are offered the opportunity to commemorate the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, when the United States of America declared its independence from the rule of Great Britain. Consider the vision of not accepting the tragedy of already being where you might wish to be. All this to say, thank you for maintaining a space where change happens. Finally, my best to each of you. My best to your family. Be safe. Happy Independence Day 2024! With enthusiasm… Dr. David Woody III President & CEO, The Bridge Homeless Recovery Center Donate: bridgehrc.org #IndependenceDay2024 #Homeless #Recovery

  • 80% of City of Dallas voters vote FOR concerning City of Dallas Bond Package Proposition I. Dr. Woody shared….“The Bridge Homeless Recovery Center is thankful for the support of our stakeholders, whose advocacy over the past 14 months championed the infrastructure needs our campus, after 16 years of heavy use and equipment maturity, desperately needs. The resources described in Proposition I will allow us to strategically improve the temporary home The Bridge Guests enjoy, The Bridge employees experience, and our campus homeless recovery partners use to empower. The Bridge mission, to empower homeless adults in Dallas with the tools to homeless recovery as they move into sustainable housing, will be further strengthened through a more secure home. Thank you, Dallas, for delivering the resources necessary to sustain a space where recovery from homelessness is contemplated. Be the change!” -David
