Extreme weather, such as intense heat, floods, and cyclones, has the most significant impact on the most vulnerable communities. Sarah Raza of The Washington Post spoke with Umme, a Rohingya refugee in Bangladesh, and two other refugee women from Jordan and South Sudan to learn how they cope with climate disasters, which threaten the little normalcy they’ve managed to create in their new homes. Micro-, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) are the backbone of our global economy, driving sustainable development and eradicating poverty. Women and young entrepreneurs are increasing their presence worldwide but are highly vulnerable to climate change, global conflicts, and rising living costs. We can support these trailblazers with market access, capacity-building, and responsible financial services. Together, we can empower MSMEs and unlock their potential, making the #SDGs a reality! 💪🌟 #EmpowerMSMEs #SustainableDevelopment #EradicatePoverty #SupportEntrepreneurs #GlobalGoals
The number of MSMEs owned by women and young people are increasing worldwide. Yet, they are among the most vulnerable to external shocks such as climate change, global conflicts and rising costs of living. Women and young entrepreneurs need support to overcome the numerous challenges they face, including access to market linkages, capacity-building, and responsible financial services. Achieving the #SDGs will not be possible if we do not empower MSMEs and invest in the potential of the people behind them. #MSMEDay #MSMEs

Sarah Jane is a resilient mom of four at the Imvepit refugee settlement in Uganda. 🇺🇬 Despite the challenges, she’s an active participant in BRAC’s Ultra-Poor Graduation program and her local Village Savings and Loan Association. With these programs, Sarah Jane and 30 refugee women in the community have been able to save money. The impact of these savings? “It has changed my life,” Sarah Jane says. 🫶 These women have been able to use their savings to rent land for cassava farming, to enroll their kids in school, and to purchase materials for their small businesses. The Rohingya refugee crisis remains one of the most pressing humanitarian issues. Since 2017, 1.2 million stateless Rohingya have fled Myanmar, with approximately a million now seeking refuge in Bangladesh. Since resettling, BRAC has been by their side. Amid a devastating fire that struck the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar, displacing more than 125,000 people, and regular cyclones and climate shocks battering the coastal region, BRAC has swiftly intervened. Our teams provide crucial medical care, food, and emergency shelters. Our mission is to ensure the health and safety of all, especially women and children. Refugee relief is a long and challenging journey. Even as news coverage fades, the need for support remains critical. In honor of Refugee Week, will you make a difference for Rohingya refugees? Make a difference with your donation today at our “refugees” highlight: https://lnkd.in/gdfDzWti #UnmakePoverty #WorldRefugeeDay #RefugeeWeek #WithRefugees #RohingyaCrisis #RohingyaRefugees #HumanRights #EndPoverty

Today is World Refugee Day, and we have an urgent request for your help. In places like Uganda and Bangladesh, the news reporters are long gone, funding is drying up, and many international NGOs have left. BRAC continues to stand with refugees. But we can’t sustain this critical work without supporters like you. 36.4 million individuals have been displaced due to conflict and persecution. Will you make a donation this World Refugee Day to provide families with food, water, shelter, health care, and education? Donate now to give refugees the tools rebuild their lives: https://lnkd.in/gdfDzWti #UnmakePoverty #WorldRefugeeDay #RefugeeWeek #WithRefugees #SupportRefugees #HumanRights #Refugees #Nonprofit
