We are doing whatever it takes to help them build a great future with programs that include homework help, mentorship, healthy lifestyle decision-making, character and leadership development, and essential job skill training.

⛳ Join us for the Larry Smucker Memorial Golf Tournament at Riceland Golf Course! This two-man scramble has an 8am shotgun start, hotdogs at the turn, 18 holes, a cart, and a food truck dinner at the finish. 🔵 Check-in begins at 7:15am. 🔵 Mulligans will be available at check-in. 🔵 Three cash prizes will be given per age bracket. 🔵 Everyone will receive a swag bag full of great items!

In January alone we served; 67 Loaves of bread from Broken Rocks Café and Bakery, 23lbs of fruit and 38lbs of vegetables from Buehler's, and 36lbs of protein and 5lbs of cheese from The Neighborhood Pantry... It's with mixed emotions that we announce the departure of one of our brightest stars from BGCW. After two incredible years of dedication and impact, Chey is moving on to pursue an amazing opportunity on the set production of a film! Chey has been an invaluable asset to our team, bringing great leadership, creativity, and unwavering commitment to everything she does. Her contributions have left an indelible mark on our organization and the lives of Wooster youth. While we'll miss her dearly, we're bursting with pride as she embarks on this new chapter of her career. We do not doubt that her talent and dedication will shine just as brightly on the big screen as it has within our BGCW family. Please join us in welcoming Kelly! Born and raised in Massillon, Ohio, Kelly graduated from Washington High School in 1992, excelling in English, Psychology, and extracurriculars like track, volleyball, and drama club. After earning a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from The College of Wooster in 1997, she dedicated over a decade to mental health as a psychiatric case manager. Transitioning roles, she delved into retail management, while also founding and leading a nonprofit called Fishing's Future, teaching fishing to families in Ohio. Now serving as a Program Coordinator at the Boy's & Girl's Club of Wooster, leveraging her social service experience to empower youth. BGCW staff are participating in PAX Tools for Human Services training today; PAX Tools is a set of trauma-informed evidence-based strategies for adults who work with or care for youth. This menu of strategies, which can be used independently or in conjunction with one another provides for improved cooperation and collaboration among adults and youth. Boys & Girls Club of Wooster recently received two grants totaling $36,450 through the Wayne County Community Foundation. Thanks to this grant, BGCW can tackle childhood hunger in Wooster head-on. As the Boys & Girls Club of Wooster's mission is "to empower all young people to reach their full potential", we believe it begins with providing children with nutritious food between one school day and the next while providing educational and enrichment opportunities to support learning, growth, and development. The Breakfast Club grant will provide breakfast for Club kids at three of our sites (Melrose, Parkview, and Edgewood), allowing children to start their school day nourished and ready to learn. The second grant, from the Beaverson Foundations Community Fund, will support a new program, Project CHOP (Childhood Hunger Outreach Program) at our Melrose Club. Through Project CHOP, the Boys & Girls Club of Wooster will work with local food markets and vendors to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry. Club staff offer a safe and welcoming environment where kids can come together after school to enjoy a well-balanced and delicious meal. These meals are designed to meet their nutritional needs, ensuring they have the energy and focus they need to excel academically and socially. "We're pleased to receive this grant award and be able to expand on our existing partnership with the Wooster City Schools that currently provides Club kids a snack after school. Project CHOP will allow us to further nourish every child by cultivating healthy eating habits, because a well-fed child is better equipped to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally" says Executive Director, Jon Hutchison.
